Madonna is the artistical name used by Madonna Ciccone, a pop singer considered by many as the queen of pop music. She has a long career that has been full of success and controversy.

Short biography: some important dates

Madonna was born in 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, USA. She took classes of piano, ballet, and was at school an active participant of artistic activities. She was at the University of Michigan for two years but quit and went to New York in 1978.

In 1983 her debut album was released and the first hit "Holiday" was top in charts across the world. In 1985 she married Sean Penn and separated in 1988.

In 1990 she stared Dick Tracy with Warren Beatty, and in 1992 her book "Sex" was a best-seller featuring highly erotic pictures. In 1999 she made the main song for "Austin Powers II". In 2000 she married again.
