These ideas and conjectures about the game and its history are not theories as they are not describing a wide array of phenomena, nor are they experiments able to be replicated. The term "theory" is inappropriate in this context. undo Tag: Reverted

  • curprev 22:2222:22, 5 May 202467.204.173.99 talk 21,725 bytes +4 →‎Legacy: The term "theories" should be reserved for concepts and happenings that can either be tested multiple times by different individuals and result in the same or similar conclusions, or that explain a wide range of phenomena. Ideas about the meanings behind a game, however, do not fit either of these uses for the word "theory," despite the word being co-opted to imply a basic thought by the public at large. undo
  • curprev 22:1822:18, 5 May 202467.204.173.99 talk 21,721 bytes −2 →‎Development and release: Changed the word "theory" into "conjecture" since a theory is something that has to be tested and proven multiple times or explain a wide range of phenomena, which does not accurately describe an idea about what happened to Kikiyama undo

  • curprev 11:1911:19, 29 April 202467.204.173.99 talk 21,730 bytes +4 →‎Legacy: The term "theories" implies that these conjectures either explain a wide variety of phenomena or there is ample evidence to support them and they can be tested several times by multiple individuals. These explanations, however, cannot, and thus would not accurately be regarded as "theories;" they are just explanations fans of the game have come to agree on. It isn't quite correct to continue changing the terms back to "theories," even if that is a more popular word. undo Tag: Reverted
  • curprev 11:1411:14, 29 April 202467.204.173.99 talk 21,726 bytes +3 →‎Development and release: The word "theory" is inappropriate here as there was not a substantial amount of evidence to support this claim. Therefore, a more fitting word would be "hypothesis" as that means one is making a conjecture based on an observation or question they would like to answer. undo Tag: Reverted
