Lasky's Involvement with the Congress for Cultural Freedom

[edit]

There is fairly substantial evidence that Lasky did know about the CCF/CIA funding for Encounter, as indicated by Frances Stonor Saunders in Who Paid the Piper?. Along with John Hunt, Michael Josselson, and Robie Macauley, Lasky was present when the CCF was founded in 1950 and was an active member (although he was eventually fired).Cmacauley (talk) 16:51, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lasky admitted?

[edit]

I'm honestly confused. I know that Lasky stated many times that he knew of the CIA funding prior to the 1967 New York Times article, but I've never seen an admission that he knew about the funding while Encounter was still receiving it. The NYT published its reveal four years after the covert funding stopped. It was my understanding that Lasky had admitted to knowing of it before it became public, but after it had ceased. The way the wiki article reads, however, it implies that he knew of the funding all along, which I'm not sure is true. Moreover, the citation does not address this issue. If someone has a citation of Lasky saying that he knew of the CIA funding all along, I'll gladly close my mouth, but barring that, I think the wiki needs to be clarified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.225.63.66 (talk) 16:15, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Spam by Transaction Publishers

[edit]

Would it not be useful to have a list of Lasky's publications, whether or not they are all issued by Transaction Publishers? I don't see the need to classify this as spam and just delete it. Cmacauley (talk) 16:40, 12 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
