It might be added that there are rumours that Ray Von is actually rumoured to be based on a real person. Several years ago, in Bolton, near to where Peter Kay lived, there was a local dj who's name was Ray Vaughn Sharples, but quipped his name to DJ Ray Von.
Seems too much of a coincidence- same name, same profession, same place, same time.
This isn't my overactive brain just rambling, it is actually a growing rumour, and I do know the real Ray Von myself, so it isn't completely false. That said, he refuses to tell us whether or not it's actually based on him, and never comments on whether or not he knew Peter Kay, although it's thought that he did.
