YouHodler is an EU and Swiss-based company[1] with two main offices: Limassol, Cyprus, and Lausanne, Switzerland. YouHodler’s FinTech platform is focused on crypto-backed lending with fiat (USD and EUR), cryptocurrency (BTC) and stablecoin loans (USDT, USDC, TUSD, PAX), crypto/fiat and crypto/crypto conversions, as well cryptocurrency saving accounts. The platform supports Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Binance Coin (BNB), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Stellar (XLM), Ripple (XRP), Dash (DASH), Augur (REP) and other popular cryptocurrencies and tokens[2].

History

[edit]

YouHodler was established in 2017 and first started out as a provider for traditional crypto-backed loans. Crypto backed lending is a concept of using cryptocurrency assets as collateral (e.g. BTC) in exchange for a fiat loan (e.g. USD). Compared to loans from traditional banks, crypto-backed loans are typically instant and do not require credit checks.

Since it’s inception, the company has expanded its platform to include other financial services such as conversion for cryptocurrency, fiat, and stablecoin assets, cryptocurrency savings accounts, margin trading tools, “Turbo Loans,” and fiat deposits/withdrawals via bank card or bank wire. All services are available via the platform’s desktop application and also on its mobile application for iOS and Android operating systems.

On July 5, 2019, the platform was the subject of a data breach containing unencrypted customer information.[3][4][5][6][7] YouHodler’s response to the event reported just 0.25% of the data was related to client operations. 0% of this data included CVV numbers or passwords since YouHodler states they do not store CVV or passwords in its log.[8]

In 2019, the company joined the Crypto Valley Association’s Western Chapter based in Lausanne, Switzerland. The Crypto Valley Association is an independent, government-supported association established to take full advantage of Switzerland’s strengths to build the world’s leading blockchain and cryptographic technologies ecosystem.[9]

[edit]

YouHodler is registered as a Cyprus Limited Liability Company, incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Cyprus and also registered as YouHodler S.A. in Lausanne, Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.[10][11] The platform applies Anti Money Laundering and Know Your Customer policy to all clients. Two-Factor Authentication via Google Authenticator or SMS/phone call is available for account security measures.

The organisation is a member of the Crypto Valley[12] and the Blockchain Association[13] of the Financial Commission. Customers are protected by the independent Financial Commission’s efficient dispute resolution process.
