Tafsir Al-Qur'an Al-Azim[1], which is famous Tafsir ibn Kathir (Arabic: تفسير ابن كثير ) is popular tafsir (explanation of Quran) all over time by ibn Kathīr al-Qurashī Al-Damishqī.[2] Tafsir Ibn Kathir is the principal and first source of the shariah and resource of Al Quran in written in 1301—1373 AC (774 AH).[3][4][5][6]

The Tafsir of Ibn Kathir is the most renowned and accepted explanation of the Qur'an in the entire world. In it one finds the best presentation of hadith, history, and scholarly commentary.[7][8] This book all of chapter easy to understand, because it provided evidences and references in every page footnotes. There is ayahs provided alongside a commentary and also hadiths as well with commentary, It's truly a fountain of knowledge for any level, and a must have for every muslim in order to truly understand the Qur'an and gain a relationship with Allah through it.[9][10][11]

Ibn Kathir holds a landmark position in Tafsir Ibn kathir. He gives extensive cross reference from the Quran when explaining a particular Aayat. Then adds incidents from Hadith along with the quotes of notable Sahaba and their students and tabiun. Qatadah, Mujahid, Ikrimah were among the popular students of Ibn Abbas who are extensively quoted in Tafsir Ibn Kathir. Besides them Ibn Kathir also quotes Ibn Jareer at-Tabari and Sufyan al-Thawri.[12][13]

Translation

This tafsir at first time translation in English in islamic history. The Translation in English and abridged by a group of scholars under the supervision of Sheikh Safiur-Rahman Al-Mubarakpuri. The Qur'an is the revelation of Allah's Own Words for the guidance of his creatures. Since the Qur'an is the primary source of Islamic teachings, the correct understanding for the Qur'an is necessary for every Muslim.[14][15][16]

About Author

Ibn Kathir originally from Busra,Syria and raised in Damascus He followed the Shafi`i school of thought. Ibn Kathir was born in the year 701 AH in an area called Majdal, near Busra, west of Damascus.[17][18] His father died when he was only four years old and was taken in by his brother and moved to Damascus in 706. Here, he learned from great scholars such as Ibn Asakir, Ishaq ibn Yahya al-Amudi and the great Ibn Taymiyyah who was extremely close to him. He also studied under various other sheikhs who gave him permission in fiqh and Hadith. He made many academic contributions to Islamic sciences.[19][20][17]

Tafsir Ibn Kathir by Ibn Kathir (d. 774 H.), is the most popular interpretation of the Qur'an in the Arabic language, and the majority of the muslims consider it to be the best and reliable source based on Qur'an and Sunnah. And this tafsir is describe in strictly and comprehensively including many primary source information.[21][22]
