Hello there. I'm wondering about your organization, ChinaAg.org. What is the source of your information? I'm not sure Wikipedia can consider your site a reliable source. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:13, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anna,
Thank you for your message. All production source data is collected and organized from China's National Bureau of Statistics (http://www.stats.gov.cn/english/). All trade data originates from the United Nations Commodity Trade Statistics Database, which gets its data directly from China's Customs Agency. All raw data is referenced and embedded for download on ChinaAg.org. Any user is free to verify its veracity. I hope this helps.
Regards,
Loren Puette
Hi Loren. I understand. So, why not add http://www.stats.gov.cn/english/ as the original source reference? Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:41, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Anna,
Although http://www.stats.gov.cn/english/ is base data source, I had to research and verify with secondary sources (news articles, USDA databases/publications, journals, and trade associations) that the data presented was indeed accurate. Much in the same way as a journalist verifies information by interview multiple sources. As you are probably aware, Chinese statistic agencies, particularly those dealing with farming and aquaculture industries, have been known to either over/under report figures. Since I have put in the effort to extract, organize, verify, as well as include the appropriate links and raw data within ChinaAg.org, I believe I met the burden necessary to reference the website. If this information does not meet Wikipedia's high standards, then I will acquiesce to its complete removal. Thank you.
Kind regards,
Loren
Ah, I see. Okay. Well, it might help if your site had the sources linked at the bottom of each table, but that still might not be enough to satisfy the Wikipedia community that your website is a WP:RS because you are the one interpreting the data. I just posted here. Let's see what the community says. I hope they find your site favourable because it is a huge resource and much easier to navigate than www.stats.gov.cn.
Aside, I hope it's okay to comment on your site: I cannot see any of the images at your site because I'm in China and sometimes certain pics are blocked. Also, the dark background makes it very difficult for me to see. And, the top is missing the "home" links, etc. Sorry to be critical. I like the site otherwise. :)
Your username: Please register a new one (or go through Wikipedia:Changing username) and abandon this username. I will redirect this account to it. It may be considered inappropriate because it is the name of your site and you are adding content to articles from your site. It is probably best that I point you toward Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide too, even though your site is not commercial. My very best wishes. Thank you Anna,

I hope in the community is kind. In the meantime, I put in a username change request and added a "Home" page. You were right it needed that, and like Wikipedia, it's still a work in progress. I'm glad you were able to visit it, I know the Great Fire Wall can make things difficult sometimes. Thanks again.

Kind regards,

Loren

Hi Loren. An editor commented at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard#chinaag.org and it makes sense. No other editor weighed-in. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:17, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
