Gravesend is in the county of Kent in the South East region of England. Gravesend is a historic town on the river Thames, opposite Tilbury in Essex. Since the late 14th century passengers have been transported to and from London by water on a "Tilt Boat". It is the final resting place of Pocahontas, whose memorial can be seen.

1 Gravesend station Trains are operated by SouthEastern[dead link], Trains run direct from London Bridge, London Waterloo East, London Cannon St or London Charing Cross. The journey takes about 50 minutes.

HS1 from Gravesend to London St Pancras (via Ebbsfleet International and Stratford International) takes a little over 20 minutes.
