Inherited from Prakrit 𑀘𑀼𑀘𑀼𑀬 (cucuya), 𑀘𑀼𑀘𑁆𑀘𑀼𑀬 (cuccuya),[1] from Sanskrit *चुच्चि (cucci).[2]
