Etymology

Cognate with Akkadian 𒂵𒈠𒀸 (gamārum, “to bring to an end, to finish”) and Aramaic גמר / ܓܡܪ (“to complete, to perfect”). Compare Arabic جمر (“to collect, to cense”).
