Thoroughly Modern Millie

Despite its title, there’s something old-fashioned about this Tony-winning Best Musical, a girl-meets-boy story set in the jazz age. Armed with a few songs from the 1967 film, Jeanine Tesori and Dick Scanlan have crafted a heap of naggingly melodic tunes — like ”Forget About the Boy,” a toe-tapping take on South Pacific’s ”I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair.” Sassy Sutton Foster makes the most of Millie, milking every ”whiz-bang” and ”boh-doh-dee-oh.” Corny? You bet. Fun? Thoroughly.
