A JONES FOR JONES

”Did you miss me?” Courtney Love asks in her comeback single. The one posing that query should’ve been Norah Jones, whose ”Feels Like Home” felt like a home run, becoming the first CD to sell a million in a week since ”The Eminem Show” almost two years ago. Sadly, Jones’ splash may overshadow Kanye West’s; his debut, ”The College Dropout,” earned a No. 2 spot with 441,000 sold. Melissa Etheridge’s 91,000-strong bow at No. 15 easily beat two femmes whose previous discs debuted in the top 10, Kylie Minogue (No. 42, with 43,000) and Love (No. 53, with 33,000).

BEASTIE BOYS are in New York City, working on their first all-new disc since 1998’s Hello Nasty. According to a spokesperson, the Boys are getting back to ”roots hip-hop” on the July release.

BACKSTREET BOYS are back together — who knew? — in L.A. and already several tunes into their slated-for-summer record.

Alt-country thrush KATHLEEN EDWARDS starts recording the follow-up to 2003’s acclaimed Failer next month in Toronto. Edwards is coproducing the album, which is due in January.
