Two lost albums from The Doors, released after Jim Morrison's death, will be reissued this fall

Following Jim Morrison’s death in 1971, the remaining members of The Doors — drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, and keyboardist Ray Manzarek — released two oft-forgotten albums, Other Voices and Full Circle. This fall, however, each will make a comeback: Rhino Records announced Friday that the albums will be released as a two-CD set.

The 180-gram vinyl editions will be released separately along with “historically accurate sleeves”—including the expansive foldout zoetrope that came with Full Circle‘s original release. (Assembled, the foldout depicts the cycle of a man’s life from infancy to old age.)

The material was remastered by The Doors’ longtime collaborator, and Other Voices co-producer, Bruce Botnick, and will feature rare bonus track, “Treetrunk,” which first released as a B-side to the Full Circle single “Get Up And Dance.” Following Morrison’s death, vocals were shared by Krieger and Manzarek. After Full Circle’s tour, the group disbanded, though they have reunited for one-off projects over the years.

Manzarek died in 2013 at the age of 74 from bile duct cancer. Krieger and Densmore survive the group and have seemingly laid to rest their decades long battle over the band’s name—they reunited at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s “An Evening With the Doors” in late 2013.
