Lupita Nyong’o got a Star Wars surprise, and luckily it wasn’t a trap.

The actress behind the goggle-eyed alien mentor Maz Kanata in the space-fantasy series received a special recorded message from one of her costars during a Thursday appearance on Good Morning America.

In a cellphone video, an exuberant John Boyega declared, “Lupita Nyong’o — she’s forged by the gods, she has a face that mathematically makes sense, and she’s definitely, definitely talented!”

Boyega scored a breakout role as the ex-Stormtrooper Finn, one of the central trio of young heroes in the new Star Wars trilogy along with Daisy Ridley’s Rey and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron.

“I’m on Star Wars [Episode VIII] right now shooting,” he continued. “We’re missing you, we’re missing your wisdom and missing your grace. Honestly, I can’t wait to see you.”

Nyong’o, who is currently promoting The Jungle Book and will rejoin Boyega in Episode VIII, said the actor is “such a good leader when it comes to Star Wars because he’s so amped up! He grew up on Star Wars, it’s in his blood.”
