[Our own way 🙌] It's time for sports at Colas: Episode 3! Climbing, canoeing, soccer, biking… tune in this summer to (re)discover a selection of emblematic Colas projects that are making sports activities possible around the world. In sunny Southern California, teams from Sully-Miller Contracting Co., one of our American subsidiaries, helped revitalize the local community with the Albion Riverside Park project! This neighborhood had lacked open areas and greenspace for its residents for years, and this park was developed to provide a safe space for local children and residents to play, exercise and congregate. The finished park boasts workout equipment, walking paths, a picnic area, two basketball courts, a baseball field, a new playground and two soccer fields. Beyond providing a much-needed resource for the community, one of the main goals of the project was to improve water quality in Los Angeles. Under the 10.6-acre park lies five acres of stormwater storage that allows rainwater to infiltrate the aquifer rather than runoff to the ocean. This system reduces the amount of city street pollutants that enter into the Los Angeles River ecosystem, and provides residents with more access to drinking water. 🍦Get the inside scoop from Coach Colas: Adapting to local climates! Colas is once again ahead of the curve… this time, when it comes to pump tracks! Our teams in Denmark, in conjunction with the company Dirt Builders, have built the country’s first tarmacked pump track lane in the town of Roskilde near Copenhagen. The bumps and curves of the lane were constructed with bicycle wheels in mind. Built with a 5 cm base course, the 220 square meters of pump track lane feature a top layer of white asphalt as wearing course that our teams applied by hand. Let’s visit Épinal in eastern France which boasts a stadium like no other. Here, there’s no athletic track or soccer field in sight. Instead, there’s a watercourse! A training center for top-level athletes, this site has the capacity to accommodate spectators and organize official international competitions, giving a new dimension to whitewater sports in France. On this exceptional project, Colas highlighted the diversity of its activities by carrying out earthworks, utility networks, concrete works, as well as pollution remediation and the development of the watercourse. We also implemented the low-carbon footprint Urbalith coating. Designed as a multi-activity leisure area with cycling, hiking and various water sports, the Épinal stadium encourages the development of local tourism. The fire service can even use it as a training ground for flooding risks and water rescues. [Our own way 🙌 ] Go behind the scenes of Paris-Orly airport with us! 🛫 To ensure that all goes smoothly for the millions of passengers who use ORY airport every month, our teams from Colas France are available around the clock, working on maintenance projects for this international travel hub. Indeed, Colas has been providing upkeep work for the airport for about 40 years now, and last year we once again won the maintenance contract for all the small-scale maintenance projects that arise on a daily basis. This means our teams will have steady work for the duration of the eight-year contract, ensuring hospitality and safety at the airport. From repairing a deterioration on the runway surface at a moment’s notice to fixing a curb in the drop-off area, all our “minor” projects add up to have a big impact. Our teams on the ground adapt to the constant flow of different demands to deliver meticulous results, with a response that is both swift and targeted. Colas won this competitive contract thanks to a variety of factors including our organizational capacity and our ability to track and quantify our activities. Moreover, because our corporate project ACT is aligned with the Groupe ADP’s CSR objectives, our bid highlighted several of our strengths in this area including: - Our low carbon solutions such as Vegeroad, of which we have now paved about 7,000 metric tons at the airport, - Our innovations such as Flowell and Wattway, and the expertise of our laboratories that enables them to provide tailored solutions, particularly bio-sourced binders, - Our tracking of carbon emissions using the Colas Carbon Counter, with a QSE employee dedicated to this task and finding ways to reduce our emissions. Did you know? At ORY airport, Colas teams and subsidiaries work in synergy. In addition to our construction and maintenance teams: - Premys is involved in deconstruction and asbestos removal work, - AXIMUM (Groupe COLAS) provides signage, - Tersen is responsible for recycling materials, - La Division Assainissement et Environnement (The Sanitation and Environment Division) carries out network cleaning and lining, - SPAC SAS (Groupe Colas) works on the facilities kerosene networks. [Côte d'Ivoire 🇨🇮]    De nouvelles gares de péages sur l'A1 & l'A3 🛣    Les équipes de Côte d’Ivoire réalisent les péages d’Abengourou et de Katiola. Colas exécute sur ces deux sites des travaux de chaussées d’enrobées et de bétons. Au total, 6 500 tonnes d'enrobés et 700 m3 de béton sont utilisées lors de la réalisation de ces travaux.    Cette initiative s'inscrit dans le cadre du développement du réseau autoroutier du pays et vise à garantir l’entretien d'infrastructures de qualité.    #CôteDIvoire #Péages #Colas  

[More than a job 💛] Meet Floriane, who works as a machine operator at the Arvel quarry in Switzerland! For nearly fifteen years, she has been responsible for sorting inert materials, wood, metals and incinerable waste using her grab excavator. Floriane cares about her environment. “We share our working space with numerous animal and plant species and it’s important to try to protect them. When I see toads and insects around the facilities, I make sure they are left undisturbed. Protecting the environment is about respecting it too.” Floriane regularly works alongside visiting biologists at the Arvel quarry. The strict specifications in place at extraction sites to preserve biodiversity are very important to her. As for her passion for machinery, it dates back to her childhood. "When I was very young, I dreamed of climbing into a truck or a train," she recalls. Native to the region, she has always known about this longstanding quarry. And now history is being repeated as Floriane has introduced the quarry to her own children. “For them, it’s like going to an amusement park!” she enthuses. Some new vocations in the making perhaps? #PressRelease 📜 Work on the #CDGExpress is going well for Colas Rail! 🚉 We are continuing work on the tracks for the CDG Express, the direct rail link connecting Paris-Est station to Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport in 20 minutes. ⌚ As part of this project, we are responsible for designing and building the tracks and catenaries in zones G and H, the final sections of the line between Mitry-Mory and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport. 🛬 On behalf of SNCF Réseau, the consortium led by Spie batignolles Valerian is building 5.8km of new rail infrastructure including designing and building earthworks, drainage works, engineering structures, track laying, the installation of catenary wires and civil engineering for signalling.
