▶️Phase 2 clinical trial for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease ▶️Completion of the 1st phase of double-blind treatment, with good patient retention and acceptance of the treatment Medesis Pharma has successfully completed a key milestone in its Phase 2 clinical trial for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and announces a scientific publication on NanoLithium treatment, its participation in the BIOMED Forum on January 30, 2024, and the completion of a capital increase of around 400 k€. Scientific publication in the « The Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer's Disease » : « Nanolithium, a New Treatment Approach to Alzheimer’s Disease: A Review of Existing Evidence and Clinical Perspectives » (https://lnkd.in/eYyaEnNp) was published on 24 January 2024. The authors are international experts in Alzheimer's disease, as well as Solène GUILLIOT, member of the Management Board, Medical Director and R&D Director of Medesis Pharma. The publication describes all the therapeutic actions of NanoLithium that have been demonstrated in animal models of the disease (3 scientific publications at McGill University in Montreal and Columbia University in Vancouver). Participation in the 16th International CTAD (CTAD Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's Disease), in Boston from 24 to 27 October 2023, and presentation of a poster on its current research. From 24 to 27 October 2023, Medesis Pharma will be in Boston for the 16th International Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's conference. The company will be presenting a poster entitled "NanoLithium® has a dual potential in Alzheimer's disease: to treat neuropsychiatric symptoms and modify disease course". The Clinical Trials on Alzheimer's Disease (CTAD) conference is an international congress devoted to therapeutic trials for Alzheimer's disease. It is an event at which all those involved in research come together to join forces and accelerate the development of effective treatments to combat this disease. Solène GUILLIOT, Medical Director & Director of R&D at Medesis Pharma, will be taking part in the conference, with the aim of presenting a scientific poster illustrating the mechanism of action of #NanoLithium on Alzheimer's patients, and identifying a potential disease-modifying effect. Taking part in CTAD is the perfect opportunity to discuss the product and how it works. L’objectif principal de cette étude est d’évaluer l'efficacité clinique du NanoLithium par rapport au placebo, sur la progression des symptômes comportementaux et psychologiques associés à la maladie entre l’inclusion et 12 semaines de traitement. Il sera évalué lors de l’analyse intermédiaire après 3 mois de traitement (mars 2024). Les objectifs secondaires, sur les troubles cognitifs et les mécanismes physiopathologiques classiques de la maladie, seront reportés à la fin de l’étude, en décembre 2024. This proof-of-concept study evaluates the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of NanoLithium NP03 in patients with Alzheimer's disease in mild to severe stages. The main objective of this study is to assess clinical effect of NanoLithium compared to a placebo, on progression of behavioral and psychological symptoms associated with the disease between baseline and 12 weeks of treatment. This first efficacy outcome will be known in March 2024 after first interim analysis is conducted (once all patients complete 3 months of treatment). Secondary endpoints on cognitive symptoms and the pathological mechanisms of the disease (biomarkers and imaging) will be obtained at study end, in December 2024. After more than 50 years of use, lithium salts remain the first-line treatment for bipolar disorders. Throughout this period, the potential of lithium salts has been extensively studied and there is evidence supporting its use in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease. Nanolithium is currently being studied in a phase 2 clinical study in 8 centers In France (Montpellier, Toulouse, Paris, Lille, Lyon, Limoges, Marseille and Strasbourg).
