🤔 Ever wondered what is behind our brand promise “Converting Power into Confidence”? It means that behind every piece of equipment that we sell to our customers is a rigorous, data-driven testing and validation protocol, giving us confidence in the excellence and reliability of our products. 📣 So we’re excited to announce that we’ve enhanced our testing capabilities even further with the reception of a new piece of testing equipment – the IT7900 Regenerative Grid Simulator – which will be used to test and develop our latest range of e-mobility power units. The product features include: ⚡Bi-directional charging for G2V and V2G up to 45 kW ⚡High power density, 6 kVA in single-phase and up to 45 kVA in three-phase ⚡4-Quadrant AC&DC power sources enabling us to test four power units simultaneously ⚡Fast response time and high current accuracy to meet high voltage testing requirements ⚡Extended range of tests up to 90 Amp rms and 350 V ⚡Simulation of real-world grid impedance (including power line disturbance testing for LIST/ SWEEP/Surge & Sag modes). ⚡Support for IEC61000 regulatory testing including   This new equipment brings three key benefits: 1.    By extending the range of tests that we carry out on our latest generation of power modules; our 30 kW MPU-R2 as well as our bi-directional 11 kW BMPU-R2, we enhance our ability to fine-tune our production methods and ensure the reliability of our products 2.    It also enables us to tailor our technology to meet specific customer needs and ensure perfect integration within existing systems. 3.    It establishes a high level of assurance for our service level agreements and extended warranty contracts. And that’s how, at Watt & Well, we convert power into confidence! #EMobility #Testing #GridSimulation #V2G #G2V

🔎 Did you know that Watt & Well develops innovative solutions for renewable energy applications? Since 2017, we have been collaborating with SBM Offshore to develop the innovative WEC S3 wave energy converter 🌊 This new generation wave energy convertor system marks the first step towards harnessing large scale, commercially viable wave energy.   The WEC S3® Wave Energy Convertor features direct energy conversion from waves to electricity by application of Electro Active Polymers. Energy is generated through a series of dielectric elastomer generators (DEG) which charge kinetic energy as the polymers are stretched and discharges energy as they are relaxed.     👉 We have developed the onshore and offshore electronic components of the prototype, including power conversion, measurement, and monitoring of the complete equipment. Successfully tested in a model basin facility, this project is supported by ADEME and the Principality of Monaco. "Throughout the project, Watt & Well demonstrated their ability to meet all challenges and adapt to evolving system requirements."Seïma S., Concept / R&D Engineer – Technology at SBM OFFSHORE Monaco.   With this partnership, Watt & Well showcases a shared commitment to scaling new renewable energies 🤝 #renewableenergy #innovation #WaveEnergy

Applying our power electronics to projects beyond our planetary frontiers, Clémence Cavayé, is leading our mission into Space! Clémence joined Watt & Well in 2019 in charge of testing and validating our space equipment. Her energy, expertise and project management skills meant that she was soon appointed Head of Space Equipment in 2022, before being appointed Director of the Space Business Unit in January 2023, and the youngest member of the executive committee. The maiden launch of Ariane 6 marks a key accomplishment 🚀🛰️ 👉 What does the launch of Ariane 6 represent for Watt & Well and for you? For Watt & Well, this is the first time ever that our power equipment, the fault-tolerant motor pump controller (CMTP), has been launched into space! We’ve been working towards this moment for a long time, and to see the launch last week was a historic moment, not just for us, but for all our partners and the European space industry. It’s a memory that will remain etched in everyone’s minds! It has filled us all with a great sense of accomplishment, but it was also a moment of stress, because it was the first time that the equipment we designed, developed, assembled, and tested to the very highest standards, has been used in real launch conditions. 👉 What were the main challenges of the Ariane 6 project? Space represents a unique and challenging environment for electronic equipment. Thanks to our experience of producing downhole tools for the energy sector, we understand the constraints of high temperatures, pressures, and vibrations, but in space, we also need to consider the effects of radiation and functioning within a vacuum. Also, the equipment has been designed with maximum fault tolerance to avoid the need of redundancy in the launcher. Thanks to the system architecture, the equipment is tolerant to one fault, it can detect and isolate its own failure, automatically reconfiguring to ensure that the motor pump controller continues to work with needed performance. A key step in the project was the validation of this fault tolerance feature which was particularly stringent and technically challenging. 👉 So, what’s the next mission for the Space BU? Our next mission is to prepare for future launches. We have already delivered the CMPT for the next launch, but now we’re working with our partners and proposing improvements to scale up and optimize production. We’re also working on projects for new space. Here the focus is less on fault tolerance and more on optimizing costs and reducing time to market. The aim is to drastically reduce costs and simplify development, while keeping a high degree of quality and reliability. We’re looking at one and a half years of development instead of six, which means we must go fast, and push ourselves to go even faster! #Ariane6 #Spaceindustry #technology

🚀 Last Tuesday, we celebrated the live launch of Ariane 6! Watt & Well provided the fault-tolerant motor controller for the Auxiliary Propulsion Unit (APU) on the second stage. "The launch was a success, the initial activations of the APU went smoothly, just as the first reignition of the upper stage. The teams are very proud to have worked on this project, which required 8 years of effort within our Space Business Unit. It was a historic moment for the European space industry and also for Watt & Well," said Clémence Cavaye, Space Business Unit Director. Emotions were running high at our sites, with a live broadcast of the launch from our locations in Massy, Pertuis and Houston 📺 Watt & Well was also honored to be represented by Clémence Cavayé and Jean-Yves Gourmond at the ArianeGroup site in Les Mureaux. To share this moment with all employees, a gourmet kit paying tribute to Ariane 6 and French Guiana was distributed to the teams. A memory that will remain etched in everyone's minds! ✨ #Ariane6 #ArianeGroup #SpaceIndustry
