Generation Ghana Alumni series: a weekly video providing in-depth testimonials from real people who experienced our programmes! Today’s episode: Lawrencia Appiah Generation Ghana started in late 2023 and in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation built a coalition with other local partners including MEST Africa, Blossom Academy, Whizzy Innovation Hub, and Women's Haven Africa, that so far achieved: 99% of alumni satisfaction 76% of alumni employed in international organisations 24% of alumni employed by local organisations We believe that starting a career in an in-demand profession isn't just a job. It is a life-changing moment. One with a lasting impact on you, your household, and future generations. Believe it or not, we prepare you to start a career in 13 weeks or less - providing the right set of skills, delivered by committed mentors, and giving access to you to secure an in-office job or support you with freelance remote work opportunities. That's what Generation Ghana offers. And since we are a not-for-profit organisation, everything is free-of-charge! Sounds too good to be true, right? But in less than 6 months, since we started the project in Ghana, more than 600 people - 70% of whom were women - dared to join our programmes. They opened the door to new opportunities, preparing for and being placed into careers that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible. Now it’s your turn! Hi LinkedIn ! I'm thrilled to share that I've officially transitioned into the role of a Web Developer, thanks to the intensive training program offered by the GROW project of Generation You Employed, Inc., in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation. I owe immense gratitude to Generation Ghana, Dr. Vandyck Lomotey, CHRMP-TD, PMP® Eric Debrah Otchere , and my dedicated instructors Roberta Mawunyo Akoto and @Emmanuel Fifi Essel. Special thanks also go to my mentors Benjamin Obu-Simpson , Helen Tucker MBA, BA (Hons) Business, and Adjoa James-Ocloo along with everyone at Generation Ghana who supported my journey. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf once said, "The size of your dreams must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them," and I found this to be profoundly true. When I discovered the opportunity with Generation, I knew I had to seize it to fulfill my aspiration of entering the tech industry. The web development program not only equipped me with essential skills but also surrounded me with incredible teammates whose support was instrumental in my success. To everyone who believed in me and supported my dreams, I am deeply thankful. This achievement isn't just mine; it's a testament to our collective effort and belief. Starting with "I made it," I now realize it's more accurate to say, "WE made it!" Here's to new beginnings and endless possibilities in the tech world! 🥂

🌟 Celebrating an Incredible Milestone! 🌟 I am happy to share that I have successfully completed the transformative Web Development Training program with #GenerationGhana! From April 8, 2024, to July 5, 2024, this journey has been an incredible blend of intense learning, personal growth, and hands-on experience. This program wasn’t just about learning to code; it was about shaping a new mindset, embracing challenges, and building something meaningful. Here are some highlights of my journey: 🚀 Diving into the Code: I immersed myself in the world of web development, mastering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, Bootstrap, and React. Each language and framework opened new doors and possibilities, allowing me to create dynamic and responsive web applications. 🌐 Building Real Projects: One of the most exciting aspects was developing real projects. I created a task planner app to help manage daily tasks efficiently, a portfolio website to showcase my work, animal blog site, and ABC learning platform for kids, and even cloned ChatGPT with an option to upload unlimited files. Each project pushed me to apply what I learned and think creatively. 👥 Collaborating and Communicating: Beyond the technical skills, this program emphasized the importance of teamwork and communication. Working on team projects and presentations, I learned to collaborate effectively, share ideas, and give and receive constructive feedback. 🔍 Focusing on User Experience: I gained a deeper understanding of web accessibility standards and user experience design. It’s not just about making something work; it’s about making it work well for everyone. 🧠 Cultivating a Growth Mindset: One of the most valuable lessons was the importance of a growth mindset. Embracing challenges, learning from mistakes, and continuously seeking improvement have been key to my development. This mindset will drive me forward in my career and beyond. I couldn’t have achieved this milestone without the incredible support and guidance from #MastercardFoundation and #GenerationGhana. Your commitment to empowering individuals and fostering growth has made this journey possible. A heartfelt thank you to each of you for believing in me and providing the resources and mentorship needed to succeed. 🙏 This training program has equipped me with the skills and confidence to take on new challenges in the tech industry. I’m eager to apply my knowledge, continue learning, and make meaningful contributions to any team I join. To all my fellow graduates and aspiring developers, remember that the journey of learning and growth never stops. Keep pushing boundaries, embrace new challenges, and stay curious. We are all capable of achieving great things with dedication and passion. Thank you for being part of my journey. Here’s to many more milestones and successes ahead! #WebDevJourney #GenerationGhana #TechTransformation #FutureReady #CodingLife #WebDevelopment #LearningNeverStops #Innovation #GrowthMindset #TeamWork
