Head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Thursday that Harty (undisclosed) is dealing with a minor soft-tissue injury but is expected to return to practice soon, per NFL.com. It's not clear where exactly Harty is experiencing the injury, but the sixth-year wideout has been absent from practice all week, per Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun. After playing with the Bills in 2023, Harty signed a one-year deal with the Ravens in April, and he is slated as the primary returner on kickoffs and punts for the upcoming season. On punt returns last year, he registered 323 yards and one touchdown across 16 regular-season games.
Simpson is expected to start next to Roquan Smith at inside linebacker for the Ravens this season, Giana Han of The Baltimore Banner reports. Simpson only played 46 snaps on defense during his rookie campaign in 2023, but he did manage to record a sack and recover a fumble while doing so. The departure of Patrick Queen to the Steelers left a hole next to Smith at linebacker, and the Clemson product appears to be the leading candidate to fill it. With expectations of earning the role, the second-year pro has been studying tape of Queen, while also forming a tighter bond with Smith. According to head coach John Harbaugh, "I've definitely seen Trent take that jump this year. He's flying around, man. He's running. He's making plays. He's confident. He's a quick learner."
Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday that Mullen has a subluxation of his shoulder and will miss a few weeks, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports. Mullen missed all of the Ravens' 2023 campaign due to a toe issue and is now expected to miss additional time with a shoulder injury. The 2019 second-round pick most recently appeared in eight regular-season games with the Cardinals and Cowboys in 2022, recording recorded 16 total tackles. Once he moves past his shoulder issue, expect Mullen to compete for a depth role in Baltimore's secondary.
Bateman (undisclosed) returned to practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. An unspecified issue caused Bateman to exit Monday's practice early, but his return to the field Wednesday aligns with coach John Harbaugh's previous assessment that the wideout wasn't dealing with anything major. As the 2024 campaign approaches, Bateman has a chance to see an uptick in production in his fourth year as a pro while working as one of Lamar Jackson's top targets alongside 2023 first-round WR Zay Flowers and star TE Mark Andrews.
The Ravens signed Roche to a contract Tuesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Roche was let go by the Steelers just ahead of the 2023 regular season and went unsigned before joining up now with the division-rival Ravens. The 2021 sixth-round pick logged 40 tackles and 2.5 sacks over 17 appearances with the Gaints in 2022 and 2023. Roche will compete for a valuable depth role with Baltimore, as the team placed fellow oustide lineabcker Malik Hamm on injured reserve with a season-ending knee injury Tuesday.
The Ravens placed Hamm on injured reserve Tuesday. Hamm will now be out for the entirety of the season after suffering a knee injury, and the 23-year-old will now shift his focus to getting healthy.
Bateman (undisclosed) isn't practicing Tuesday, Bo Smolka of Press Box reports. Bateman will miss at least one practice after taking a hard hit to the torso Monday. Coach John Harbaugh downplayed the severity of the issue and suggested it's nothing more than soreness, which means Bateman should be back at practice quickly. The Ravens have hinted that he could take over as their No. 2 wide receiver all offseason, and it seems Bateman's still on track for that role ahead of 31-year-old Nelson Agholor and 2024 fourth-round pick Devontez Walker.
Coach John Harbaugh indicated that the unspecified issue that forced Bateman out of Monday's practice early is nothing serious, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports. Per Zrebiec, it looked like Bateman absorbed a hit in the rib/stomach area prior to his exit Monday, but Harbaugh described the wideout's issue as just soreness. With that in mind, consider Bateman, who's poised to play a key role in Baltimore's receiving corps this season, to be day-to-day.
