Freshman Bulldog Haley Zambrana Scores in the 63' (Joseph Vitale)
The Olmsted Falls girls soccer team continued its Southwestern Conference run with a hard-fought 3-0 win vs. a tough North Ridgeville side.
The Bulldogs entered the night undefeated and looked to continue their campaign for a SWC conference championship, but the Rangers would give Olmsted Falls a battle for their sixth win. Playing with sophomore reserve keeper Cassie Moilov, the Bulldogs were able to log yet another clean sheet for the season.
The first half remained scoreless, with Olmsted Falls and North Ridgeville battling defensively.
In the second half, senior Ashley Sandru broke the tie with a rocket shot to goal, aided by an assist from fellow senior Lauren Gumeny to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0 in the 54th minute. The scoring continued, when freshman Haley Zambrana punched through the Ranger back line to score, with another pass from Lauren Gumeny for the 2-0 lead in the 63rd minute.
Ashley Sandru put things out of reach for the Rangers, with a goal in the 79th minute, thanks to an assist from sophomore Jordan Fusco.
The Bulldogs are now 6-0 on the season and head into a non-conference match up Saturday against Valley Forge.
