Olmsted Falls shuts out Westlake, 5-0

The Olmsted Falls High School girls soccer team continued its Southwestern Conference quest with a 5-0 win over longtime rival Westlake.

The Bulldogs scored early in the first half with a strong strike by junior Megan Francescone, with an assist by sophomore Jordan Fusco in the third minute of the match. Shortly afterward, fellow junior Kylie Fitzgerald hit the back of the net with an assist from senior Lauren Francescone in the 6th minute. Falls ended the first half scoring with Jordan Fusco finishing with a score from a Megan Francescone cross in the box.

Olmsted Falls opened the second half of the match with a strike for goal in the 52nd minute by senior Lauren Francescone thanks to an on-target, through-pass by Kylie Fitzgerald. The half came to an end with a goal from senior Janitsy Zambrana by an assist from fellow senior Abby Gomez.

The Bulldogs kept the Demons scoreless for their second shutout in conference play, thanks to strong keeper play by senior Mackenzie Simon. Simon has allowed only one goal this season.

Falls returns home on Wednesday to battle SWC foe Lakewood.
