Sophomore Jordan Fusco drives to the goal (Joseph Vitale)

The Olmsted Falls girls soccer team made a Southwestern Conference statement Wednesday with a 2-0 shutout win vs. visiting rival Avon.

A scoreless tie was broken at the 32-minute mark when sophomore Jordan Fusco was fouled in the box. Fusco scored on a penalty kick to the bottom left of the goal for the 1-0 lead.

Later, a cross from Fusco to senior Janitsy Zambrana in the 76-minute mark put the Bulldogs ahead 2-0.

Falls senior keeper Mackenzie Simon recorded her first clean sheet in conference play.

The Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0) face another tough conference foe Saturday at Westlake.
