Laurel’s Jami Morris ties for first in Division II girls state golf tournament; NDCL boys finish second

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jami Morris tied for first place among all competitors with a 147 to help Laurel finish fifth in the 2018 OHSAA Division II state girls golf tournament at the OSU Golf Club's Gray Course.

Morris tied with Kansas Lakota’s Kyleigh Dull as the best individual as they both shot a 73-74. Morris was sixth in the 2017 state tournament.

Jelena Lainovic from Andrews Osborne Academy was the other local golfer to finish in the top ten by tying for eighth (155).

Lima Central Catholic won the team title with a 652. It finished 22 strokes better than second-place Shelby.

DIVISION II BOYS

For the second year in a row, NDCL boys golf took second place at OSU Golf Club's Scarlet Course.

The Lions finished nine strokes (634) behind Gahanna Columbus Academy (625). Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin had the top score on Saturday with a 310, improving on its Friday by 14 strokes.

Danny Milo placed highest among NDCL golfers, tying for fourth (155). He shot a 74 on Saturday, which was best among the field. Teammate Zander Gibson was eighth (158).

Hawken finished seventh as a team (688) and CVCA took ninth (716). Bexley's Trevor Binau was the top individual, shooting a 146 during the two days.

DIVISION III BOYS

Rootstown's Laszlo May, the only local qualifier in Division III, finished tied for 27th with a 171.

Columbus Wellington won the team title with a score of 610. Tyler Jones of Worthington Christian was the overall champion (145).
