The Bombers last made a state final in 1995 and '86, both ending with defeats. Kenston entered this season coming off a 2017 run that ended with an 8-2 record and a finish just outside of the top eight for the playoffs. Grubich and his players said that experience provided a lesson in focus, one that was reinforced with a Week 9 encounter vs. Chardon. Since then, Kenston has won five straight — all by 15 points or more.
