CLEVELAND, Ohio — A lineman is the offensive player of the year in Division I.
The player he blocks each day in practice is the area’s top defensive player, too.
Mentor’s Ohio State recruits in the trenches are walking away with the big hardware after the announcement Wednesday of the All-Northeast Lakes District football teams for the 2018 season.
Mentor left tackle and OSU recruit Ryan Jacoby is the district’s offensive player of the year in Division I. Defensive end Noah Potter took home defensive player of the year honors. For a sweep, Mentor’s Steve Trivisonno is the coach of the year after guiding the Cardinals to a Greater Cleveland Conference championship share and the top seed for the Region 1 playoffs.
Of course, Mentor did not claim every honor.
