Let’s take a look 👀👇 For the uninitiated, a “mafia” refers to the network of founders and employees of a company that go on to start new businesses. 🔸 Kunal Shah-led CRED launched 5 new products in 2023. But unlike its peers, it’s not in the race to become the next fintech super app – for Shah, the benchmark is the likes of Apple and Mercedes. 🔸 For instance, while every company is gearing up to become an all-in-one fintech app, CRED took a deliberate approach without compromising on its product ethos. Shah chose products that fit into CRED’s customer persona model. 🔸When CRED chose to go into something like vehicle management with CRED Garage – which came out of the blue – it fit like a glove within the platform. And in the first 3 weeks, CRED Garage claims to have hit 1 Mn vehicles registered. 🔸 Though the startup is far from profitability, according to Shah, the best companies in the world – like Apple or Mercedes – take their time because they are pushing the envelope on products. Whether that be a car or a smartphone or laptop or indeed a fintech app. 🔸 “Unless we had these loss-making companies, we would have not seen the fintech growth that we have seen so far,” said Shah at the Global Fintech Fest 2023.
