You will be able to manage the client's needs, or over-informing clients, by setting clear priorities and expectations that are realistic, thus protecting the quality and schedule of the project.

The first estimate should be dealing with the impact on the project in terms of scope, time, and resources when handling the last-minute changes in design. Be very clear with the client about the implications of such changes; their possible effects on the project, and suggest an alternative. Negotiate to accommodate the pivotal changes, and if need be, modify the contract in relation to the time and/or extra costs. Document all requested changes and obtain formal approval for them before you continue. Consider phased delivery to achieve scheduled targets without losing quality.
