What We Are Looking For 

We are seeking an exceptional candidate who combines a deep passion for pop-culture, fandoms, and illustrated non-fiction books with a history of developing successful customer acquisition strategies. As the Manager, E-Commerce, you will lead and execute our e-commerce sales strategy including on site assortments, merchandising and promotions while overseeing and improving the customer experience across multiple marketing platforms. In this role, you will leverage your expertise  to expand brand awareness to help grow digital sales across multiple channels while leading all ecommerce initiatives and identification of new marketing opportunities. You will oversee and manage existing marketing relationships while onboarding new vendors to drive digital marketing growth resulting in increased sales. Creative marketing experience, and familiarity with pop-culture markets, will be crucial in optimizing our strategies and driving sales growth across a vast catalog of titles from many of the biggest entertainment brands in the world (Harry Potter, Pokémon, Star Wars, Netflix, etc.). 


We are looking for a candidate who not only has an extensive network and relationships, but also a creative visionary, with an ability to see around corners and use your e-commerce knowledge to help grow our site and improve the customer experience. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analyzing trends and data, customer behavior and optimization to better serve and convert large customer base and traffic growth.
  • Align with Insight Edition’s overall strategic direction and will contribute to the long-term success and growth of the business
  • Lead and execute strategy of overall programming, on site assortments, merchandising, and sales and promotions.
  • Build and create calendars to ensure optimal efficiency in driving revenue, site cadence, and consumer engagement.
  • Act as liaison between website team, digital marketing group, and sales team to make sure communication and timelines maximize all consumer strategies.
  • Manage KPIs including monthly sales revenue targets, customer acquisition goals, and conversion and retention rates.
  • Create and direct budgets consisting of integrated digital marketing plans across multiple online channels with a strong ability to communicate and sell digital marketing programs to produce ad sales revenue.
  • You will lead and oversee the customer experience across digital marketing platforms and drive the delivery of e-commerce channel sales.
  • You will manage the day-to-day marketing budget and channel activity, continually testing and optimizing spend across multiple marketing channels in support of company growth goals and brand and partner strategies. This includes but is not limited to SEO, SEM, Re-Targeting, email marketing, loyalty program, and social media marketing.
  • Manage relationships and strategy with current vendors and onboard new vendors to drive digital marketing and ROI on marketing spends for new product releases and promotions. Ability to negotiate contracts is a must.
  • Lead all existing and new and complex multi-channel digital marketing initiatives and identify new opportunities. Implement strategies that drive traffic and optimize conversion, retention, and increase e-commerce revenue and profitability.
  • Update all stakeholders with ongoing communication regarding improved metrics surrounding retention, conversion, and data driven optimization resulting in improved title performance. 


Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent work experience
  • 2-4 years’ experience leading an e-commerce business
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with high attention to detail
  • Proficient in advanced SEO & SEM
  • Proven ability to interpret data and provide actionable insight.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced training in Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, problem solve, and demonstrate initiative in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interest in book publishing, content strategy, and pop culture is a plus.

We are looking for a candidate who is not only pragmatic and organized, but also visionary, with an ability to see around corners and use your book industry knowledge to help fans and readers more easily find our books online. As a forward-thinker, you will anticipate challenges and establish workflows and processes to ensure the success of our products across multiple platforms. Your deep knowledge of the book industry will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for optimization.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Compile daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual sales reporting and comparative title analysis for each division.
  • Work with editorial and marketing teams to make sure product pages and metadata are regularly maintained, feeding correctly, and are populated with compelling, content-rich, and optimized updated title data.
  • Work with our distribution partner to establish title demand quantities, monitor sales trends, and ensure NYP titles are stocked appropriately in advance of publication date.
  • Work with our sales and distribution partner to troubleshoot shipping and receiving issues that impact the customer experience. Regularly meet to review base reliability metrics (in-stock, fill rate, compliance, etc.) to make sure we are exceeding goals.
  • Gather, interpret, and present analytical sales data gathered from all available sources to make sure we are using industry and customer trend data to build more impactful ads and promotions and using findings to find category niche opportunities to drive sales.
  • Develop best-in-class processes and workflows to make sure we are launching NYP releases with the necessary materials and time to meet launch sales goals. Work with internal teams to make sure we are using industry and customer trend data to build more impactful ads and promotions.
  • Actively seek out marketing and promotion opportunities, working with sales and editorial partners, to support an expanded sales network for physical and digital online sales.
  • Work with our distribution partner to perfect and maintain data integrity across the Amazon.com platform across the entire catalog, including optimizing copy, maintaining compelling and timely metadata, and helping build A+ content for title pages.
  • Build, improve, and maintain Amazon advertising (AMS) and use all available promotional tools to drive product discovery, traffic, and sales.
  • Build strong relationships internally and externally at all leadership levels, work collaboratively, and bring positive energy to the team.
  • Lead or participate in other projects and tasks as assigned.

Job Description

Weldon Owen is looking for a talented Editor to help drive our children’s publishing program. This position will develop and acquire licensed and non-licensed books and series for ages 8–12. At least 3 years of recent experience acquiring and editing illustrated children’s books is essential. You will be the visionary behind each project and responsible for keeping everyone involved, engaged, and on schedule. An ability to manage many moving parts on a variety of projects while working closely with authors and illustrators is required. Experience discovering new authors, acquiring assets, and assisting in the creative vision behind a book is a plus. 

  

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Acquire and edit approximately 10-15 projects per year
  • Manage projects from start to finish from ideation to finished books
  • Research industry trends and develop new book concepts and formats
  • Write sales, marketing, and cover copy
  • Develop relationships with authors, freelancers, and agents
  • Liaise with sales and marketing, and oversee the development of marketing collateral
  • Create project budgets and manage schedules 


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience developing and editing children’s (ages 8-12) books.
  • A proven track record of acquiring, developing, and championing and successful children’s publications
  • Experience managing multiple schedules and meeting deadlines
  • Experience managing budgets and P&Ls within the publishing environment
  • Ability to manage a team of freelancers and work collaboratively within the internal editorial and design teams
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing needs; an ability to liaise across departments and develop effective sales materials
  • Exceptional editorial and writing skills
  • Strong familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style
  • Experience working with licensors and routing approvals is a plus.
