A unique multi-disciplinary research center focusing on promotion of best science in harm reduction.
Chi siamo
The CoEHAR is an interdepartmental research centre constituted on 7 March 2018 by 37 University of Catania’s highly qualified and skilled academics coming from different scientific fields and including medical sciences, informatics, psychology, epidemiology, economics, engineering, physics, chemistry, law and policy sciences on gender equality, equal opportunities and diversity. The our mission is to accelerate the efforts of international scientific research to promote the concept of reduction of smoking damage, reduce the impact of smoking on public health and consequently contribute to decreasing the number of deaths from smoking throughout the world. CoEHAR activities are based on three principles: - Harm Reduction - Scientific Innovation and Technology - Internationalization of Scientific Activities The CoEHAR was founded by 38 professors, teachers and researches of the University of Catania, on the proposal of Prof. Riccardo Polosa Currently it is composed of: 42 Professor from the University of Catania 1 Professor from University of Eastern Piedmont 1 Professor from Hunter College, University of New York 1 Professor from University of Marrakech Cadi Ayyad An Independent Scientific Committee unanimously appointed by the Council in 2018 and composed of scientists know globally for their decades of experience in research on the effects and risks caused by tobacco smoke. The CoEHAR has also signed two important Framework Agreement: the first one with the LIAF- Italian Anti-Smoking League. The second it has be signed with ECLAT srl for joint research activities in the sector of products alternative to conventional cigarette smoke.

CoEHAR ha diffuso questo post
Fisciano, thanks for having me. "XXIV Congresso Nazionale della Sezione di Psicologia Clinica e Dinamica", University of Salerno - Fisciano Campus, September 12-15, 2024 I presented a proposal for a study about "Integrating Smartwatch Technology for Dual Diagnosis Patients in Clinical Institutional Settings". Implementing the latest clinically-designed smartwatches for monitoring and enhancing dual diagnosis patients' treatments is a novel idea, and could represent a further advancement in dual diagnosis knowledge, as well as providing new insights for harm reduction. Prof. Massimo Caruso and Dr. Konstantinos Partsinevelos presented an interesting work on the comparison of the #toxicity of classic cigarettes and e-cigarettes entitled “Toxicity induced by cigarette smoke and electronic #cigarette aerosols” during the annual congress EuroTox 2024 in #Copenaghen, one of the most important events in the world in the field of toxicology, which saw the participation of more than 1500 scholars from all over the world (in addition to Europe, also from the United States, South Korea, Japan, South America, etc.). The presentation aimed at raising awareness in the vast world of #toxicology on the importance of the conditions of in vitro exposure of human cells to cigarette #smoke and e-cigarette aerosol in conducting scientific studies that may have relevance in the regulatory field. The work is part of Replica, one of the flagship projects of the Italian center, which involves the collaboration of various international research hubs. In addition to the researchers from the University of Catania, Dr. Nikolina Kastratovic, CoEHAR partner from the Kragujevac University (Serbia), presented an interesting work on the toxicity of the Tobacco heating products, entitled “ Effects of tobacco heating products on viability, proliferation and #cytokine production of mesenchymal stem cells isolated from periodontal ligament”, demonstrating that the work of #CoEHAR is involving more and more researchers in the field of #THR. #research #eurotox2024 #stopsmoking EUROTOX Congress Massimo Caruso
