    The “Sustainability in action 2024” report is now online!   The economic, geopolitical, environmental, and social changes taking place globally make the sustainable transition process increasingly urgent, requiring the joint commitment of institutions, civil society, and enterprises to preserve the future of the Planet and its inhabitants.     In a 📺 interview with CNBC International’s Squawk Box Europe, Roberto Cingolani, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of #Leonardo, talks about the current geopolitical scenario, the company's 1H 2024 results and objectives, and the role of digital technologies in the path towards the new global security approach. Digital transformation is one of the factors behind Leonardo's double digit growth across all KPIs in the first half of 2024. Analysing the financial results, Roberto Cingolani points out that the company's growth derives not only from the geopolitical situation, but also “from the strong investments made in digitalisation and research and development.” The industry’s evolution and the Group's new approach involve an unprecedented digitalisation of all platforms: from digital twin design to digital and predictive maintenance, from digital services to multi-domain technologies, enabling all platforms - land, sea, space, air and cyber - to communicate with each other.     As part of the multi-year #FREMM program aimed at the renewal of the Marina Militare - Italian Navy's fleet through the construction of next-generation frigates, ORIZZONTE SISTEMI NAVALI S.p.A., a joint venture owned by FINCANTIERI (51%) and Leonardo (49%), has signed a contract worth approximately 1.5 billion euro with OCCAR (Organisation for Joint Armament Co-operation) for the construction of two new FREMM frigates of the “EVOLUTION” version, known as “FREMM EVO”.   The two new units will be at the cutting edge of naval military craft, in terms of technology and performance, capitalizing on the important technological developments already undertaken as part of recent programs under the Defence Act, as well as the Mid Life Upgrade project for the Horizon-class destroyers. The Italian Navy will be able to rely on two new FREMM frigates ensuring high operational performance, with state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge systems, as well as the latest anti-drone capabilities and the capacity for operational management of unmanned systems across three dimensions (above the surface, on the sea and below the surface). The engineering expertise of Orizzonte Sistemi Navali at both Whole Warship and Combat System level will enable the Italian Navy to make use of two operationally cutting-edge and technologically state-of-the-art vessels.     #Leonardo's Board of Directors, convened today under the Chairmanship of Stefano Pontecorvo, examined and unanimously approved 2024 first half results.   "The first half results show double-digit growth across all KPIs. In recent months, we have also achieved significant goals in strengthening international alliances by taking an active role in promoting European Defence. The agreement with Rheinmetall represents a unique opportunity for the development of the new generation of land defence systems," Roberto Cingolani, Leonardo CEO and GM, stated. "The consolidation of the core defence business continues thanks to the acceleration of the digitalisation process and the rationalisation of the portfolio with the sale of Underwater Armaments & Systems, which gives further impetus to the collaboration between Leonardo and Fincantieri, and the exit from non-core businesses such as IIA and Skydweller. The creation of the new Space Division positions Leonardo in rapidly growing market segments, while targeted acquisitions will strengthen the Cybersecurity business. The efficiency plan is fully operational, with results exceeding expectations.     Last week, we were pleased to share that #Leonardo was confirmed as a leading company in the fight against corruption. The company’s commitment against bribery and enhancing the related risk prevention system, in the area of global security technologies, are the main factors behind the renewal of the Anti-Corruption System Certification, which was issued by RINA, pursuant to the standard ISO 37001:2016 “Anti-bribery Management Systems”- the first international standard in the sector. As the Chairman of Leonardo Stefano Pontecorvo underlined, “This prestigious recognition is an expression of the professionalism and skills of Leonardo's people, who are daily committed to a path of consolidation of the responsible business management model, inspired by the highest international standards.” A key element of this achievement is the awareness of the Group's employees of an internal system for the prevention of corruption and the progressive implementation of corporate control measures, with a view of continuous improvement. In particular, we want to highlight Chief Compliance Officer Elena Napolitano’s team, Stefano Tosi, Gianmarco Troia, Novella Varriale, Roberta Meli, who through their dedication and diligence were fundamental to achieving this important certification.
