Nowadays, traditional utilities as we knew them are trying to survive in an evolving scenario where margins are squeezing because of increasing competition and disruptive innovation. Given the fact that it is more and more difficult to extract value from their assets utilities are shifting their attention from the “asset” to the “service” dimension of their business, moving from being pure commodity vendors to service providers.
To this end, Enel is trying to get inspiration from new trends and technologies to develop its own activities in this direction through a new Global Division called Enel X (e-Solutions). Our goal is creating an energy ecosystem that through electric mobility, electrification, digitalization and the provision of new energy services at the residential and commercial level paves the way towards the energy sector of the future and at the same time creates value for our shareholders.
But being profitable for the company is not enough for us. We want to be a key player of this new business by coupling profitability with sustainability and by creating value for our customers in each segment where we operate.
In a nutshell, we want to be successful by bringing energy back in the hands of people.
