アメリカ（America）はアメリカのバンド。「名前のない馬」のヒットで知られる。
略歴
ジェリー・ベックリー、デューイ・バネル、ダン・ピークの3人によりロンドンで結成され、1971年にデビュー。3人とも父親はロンドンに駐留するアメリカの軍人であり、アメリカンスクールでの仲間だった。
デビューアルバム「アメリカ」の売れ行きはさほどではなかったが、翌1972年に発表したシングル「名前のない馬（A Horse With No Name）」が期せずして全米1位の大ヒットとなる。急遽この曲を追加収録してアルバムを再発したところミリオンセラーを記録、グラミー賞の最優秀新人賞を受賞した。同年にロサンゼルスに活動拠点を移す。
さわやかなコーラスを生かした素朴なサウンドは、当時すでに人気を確立していたクロスビー、スティルス、ナッシュ&ヤングと比較されることが多かった。その後も「アイ・ニード・ユー」「ヴェンチュラ・ハイウェイ(Ventura Highway)」、「ティン・マン」、「ロンリー・ピープル」、「金色の髪の少女(Sister Golden Hair)」、「ひなぎくのジェーン(Daisy Jane)」、「風のマジック(You Can Do Magic)」といったヒット曲を送り出した。ダン・ピークは1977年に脱退、2011年に死去している。
