満州文字（滿洲文字、まんしゅうもじ、満洲語: ᠮᠠᠨᠵᡠ
ᡥᡝᡵᡤᡝᠨ 、転写：manju hergen）は、満洲語を表記するために制定された文字。

概要

母音字6個と子音字19個で表記される表音文字。縦書き専用の文字で、行は左から右に進む。各文字は、語頭・語中・語尾により異なった字形を持つ。

なお、ヌルハチが独自文字の制定を命ずる以前に存在した金時代に創られた女真文字は、漢字に類似する点が多く、文字によって音節が1つ～複数個ある。満洲文字はアラム文字、ソグド文字、ウイグル文字、モンゴル文字から派生したアルファベットの一種で、女真文字とは別物である。

歴史

無圏点字

無圏点満洲文字で記されているスレ・ハン（ホンタイジ）の銭。表左「sūre（聡明なる）」、上「han（王）」、下「ni（の）」、 右「jiha（銭）」とある。「天聡汗銭」あるいは「天聡通宝」と通称される。

明代、建州女真（建州女直とも）を統一していたヌルハチ（努爾哈赤）がエルデニ（中国語版）（ᡝᡵᡩᡝᠨᡳ
ᠪᠠᡴᠰᡳ, erdeni baksi[1], 額爾徳尼）とカガイ（中国語版）（ᡬᠠᡬᠠᡳ
ᠵᠠᡵᡤᡡᠴᡳ, g'ag'ai jargūci[2], 噶蓋）に命じて、1599年（万暦27年）にモンゴル文字の表記を応用して「無圏点字」を制定したとされる。しかし、無圏点字はモンゴル文字の体系をそのまま使用していたために、モンゴル語とは音韻の異なる満洲語を表記するには問題が多かった。

有圏点字

1632年（天聡6年）、ヌルハチの子ホンタイジ（皇太極）が部下のダハイ（達海）に命じて文字表記の改良を指示した。ダハイは従来の表記に加えて文字の横に点や丸（圏点）を添えて、満洲語の一音が一文字で表記できるよう改良した。ダハイにより改良された表記を「有圏点字」と呼ぶ。

清代には満洲文字は「清文」または「国書」と呼ばれ、モンゴル文字、漢文と共に三体と呼ばれた。三体は公用文字として公文書には必ず用いられたが、実生活には北京では清代の中葉から漢字で書かれた文献が優位になっていた。このため、西太后らは満洲文字を全く理解できなかった一方、漢文は理解できたという。その一方で漢字圏以外の清の支配地、すなわちモンゴルや新疆、チベットで通用する共通文字は清崩壊まで満洲文字であった。

また民間の漢人は満洲語と満洲文字の習得は禁止されていた。漢人で満洲語と満洲文字を学ぶことを許され、中央政治に参加できたのは科挙合格者の状元と榜眼のみであった。満洲文字と漢文が併記された公文書の場合、内容が満洲文字の文章の方が漢文の文章よりも詳細に記述してあることが多く、また、清朝初期の記録は満洲文字でしか残っていないため清朝史研究の上では非常に重要な文字である。

シベ文字・ダウール文字

清朝滅亡後は廃れ、現在はほとんど使用されていないが、清の乾隆帝の時代に国境警備のため中国東北部から現在の新疆ウイグル自治区シベ自治県周辺に移住を命じられた女真族の系統のシベ族（錫伯族）が、満洲文字を改良したシベ文字（中国語版）をシベ語の表記に今も使用している。1980年代当初には、行政機関から商店にいたるまで、看板には漢字と満洲文字が併記されていたことが確認されている[3]。住民は満洲文字を読むことはもちろん、日常語としてその言葉を話していた[3]。 また、あまり一般的には使用されていないが、エヴェンキ語や、ダウール語の発音を表記するためにも満洲文字は使用される。
