Safe and sustainable development of space for the benefit of future generations
概要
Founded in 2013, Astroscale is the global leader in on-orbit servicing, dedicated to the safe and sustainable development of space. The company delivers a variety of innovative and scalable on-orbit servicing solutions, including life extension, in-situ space situational awareness, end-of-life, and active debris removal. These solutions empower satellite operators to reduce risks, increase returns, and achieve mission success while fostering a sustainable space environment. Astroscale is also defining the economics of on-orbit servicing and collaborating with government and commercial stakeholders to develop norms, regulations, and incentives that promote the sustainable growth of space. Since its first successful launch in March 2021, Astroscale has proven rendezvous and proximity operations technologies in orbit during the ELSA-d and ADRAS-J missions, establishing the company as a leader in on-orbit servicing. Astroscale spacecraft have been selected for pioneering missions with JAXA, the U.S. Space Force, the European Space Agency, the UK Space Agency, and Eutelsat OneWeb. As more satellite operators adopt on-orbit servicing to routinely inspect, relocate, remove, and extend the life of spacecraft, the potential of a circular space economy — and a future of no waste in space — is being unlocked. Headquartered in Japan, Astroscale has a global presence with subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Israel.

🗨️ "Efficient spectrum use and thoughtful allocation of spectrum resources enables better management of orbital resources, which in turn, enables more efficient spectrum use. It’s this wonderful feedback loop. It means that expenses related to sustainability are not penalties or taxes but rather investments. It’s value added." 🌐 Mike Lindsay at the first ever International Telecommunication Union #SpaceSustainability Forum in Geneva. 💡 Curious to hear more insights on policies, best practices, and strategies for the responsible use of space? 📢 NEWS: Next phase is GO for COSMIC! 🚀 The UK Space Agency has awarded Astroscale UK £2.35 million (inc. tax) funding for the next phase of a UK national active debris removal mission. COSMIC is Astroscale's solution to remove two inactive British satellites from space using a robotic capture system for unprepared satellites. 🛰️🛰️ "The global space industry continues to set new records for the number of satellites launched into orbit, with more than 2,780 launched in 2023 alone. While these satellites deliver valuable services back to people on Earth, we also need to make sure we protect the space environment and develop new ways to remove space debris." Paul Bate, CEO of the UK Space Agency. Astroscale UK's bid for the contract incorporates experienced UK and European industrial leaders in advanced space systems. Astroscale UK will also continue to collaborate with several other companies spread across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, for the development of the COSMIC servicer, leveraging the growing Astroscale UK supply chain consisting of nearly 100 companies. https://lnkd.in/g24X3tkR #SpaceSustainability #SpaceDebris
