TDK Corporation is a world leader in electronic solutions for the smart society based in Tokyo, Japan. Built on a foundation of material sciences mastery, TDK welcomes societal transformation by resolutely remaining at the forefront of technological evolution and deliberately “Attracting Tomorrow.” It was established in 1935 to commercialize ferrite, a key material in electronic and magnetic products. TDK‘s comprehensive, innovation-driven portfolio features passive components such as ceramic, aluminum electrolytic and film capacitors, as well as magnetics, high-frequency, and piezo and protection devices. The product spectrum also includes sensors and sensor systems such as temperature and pressure, magnetic, and MEMS sensors. In addition, TDK provides power supplies and energy devices, magnetic heads and more. These products are marketed under the product brands TDK, EPCOS, InvenSense, Micronas, Tronics and TDK-Lambda. TDK focuses on demanding markets in automotive, industrial and consumer electronics, and information and communication technology. The company has a network of design and manufacturing locations and sales offices in Asia, Europe, and in North and South America. In fiscal 2024, TDK posted total sales of USD 14.6 billion and employed about 101,000 people worldwide.

    🤖Today is Featured Stories Friday🌟 🚘 Although the idea of fully #autonomousvehicles captures the imagination, the actualization of this technology is likely to take much longer than a handful of years. Fully autonomous vehicles face significant practical challenges in 2024, primarily due to: 💥Unresolved technical issues. 💥Regulatory hurdles 💥Societal concerns 🚗These vehicles must operate flawlessly in complex, unpredictable environments, a standard that current technologies struggle to meet consistently. Critical sensing capabilities, such as when vehicles are in tunnels or underground garages, have yet to be resolved. 💡On the upside, semi-autonomous vehicles, which still require human oversight but are equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems, present a more viable solution. They enhance driver safety and comfort by automating specific tasks like lane keeping and adaptive cruise control, while still relying on a human for critical decision-making. This hybrid approach leverages the benefits of automation while mitigating the risks associated with fully autonomous operations.     🚨 We are excited to announce that TDK's fiscal 2030 greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets are now verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). 🌿 The following #TDK targets have been certified: ✅ Target 1: Reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 #GHG emissions by 42% within fiscal 2030 from a fiscal 2021 base year. ✅ Target 2: Reducing absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products by 25% within fiscal 2030 from a fiscal 2021 base year. ✅ Target 3: Encouraging 5% of its suppliers by spend covering purchased goods and services to have science based targets by fiscal 2028. To achieve these goals, TDK have been promoting the use of #renewableenergy sources. Below are examples that contributed to the verification: 🌱 Since July 2023, all manufacturing sites in Japan operate with 100% electricity from renewable energy sources. 🌱 We achieved the mid-term target of 50% by fiscal 2025 in fiscal 2023, two years ahead of schedule. 🌱 We aim to increase the percentage of electricity used by all manufacturing sites globally from renewable energy sources to 50% by fiscal 2025, and to 100% by fiscal 2050.
