UNIQLO, Hong Kong sponsors the official team uniforms for the Sports Association for the Physically Disabled of Hong Kong, China (HKSAPD) from 2024 to 2028. Following the two-year sponsorship of the "Para Sports Community and School Development Programme" last year, we extended the partnership with HKSAPD to further support the development of disabled sports and establish a diverse and inclusive society through different means. The official uniforms are made with advanced UNIQLO technologies, primarily using DRY-EX, which quickly absorbs and wicks away sweat, and Ultra Stretch, a soft and lightweight fabric that stretches in a 360-degree direction, ensuring optimal performance for athletes when wearing the uniforms. [UNIQLO in Indonesia Embracing People with Disabilities through Run For Equality Event] UNIQLO, Indonesia participated in the festive celebration of diversity and inclusion by supporting the #Runforequality2024 held in Jakarta on 28 April 2024 by PLAN International. Run For Equality aims to provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities (PWD) to unleash their potential and unique abilities, in one concrete form which is through fun running activities. Around 1,500 people gathered during the event, including our 19 employees who were involved as volunteers to accompany disabled runners in the 2K category and our 4 PWD employees also joined as participants in the 5K category. We also have a UNIQLO Sustainability booth and photo wall that provides refreshments and interactive quizzes and installations to raise awareness about our sustainability practices and initiatives. There are also various activities during the event such as dance and music performances by disabled participants. Earlier this week, Fast Retailing CIO, Takahiro Tambara appeared on stage at NRF 2024, Retail’s Big Show, Asia Pacific. In his keynote session to thousands, Tambara described the UNIQLO transformation to become a Digital Consumer Retailer, explaining associated challenges and opportunities. Tambara emphasized it’s not a matter of always inventing new technologies. More often the key is to first innovate with what already exists to reveal new synergies. As UNIQLO works toward end-to-end management of its supply chain for greater visibility and control, RFID, and other digital ID technologies such as QR codes will have a role to play. [UNIQLO, Indonesia Celebrating World Earth Day by Planting Mangrove with Disabled Students] In celebration of World Earth Day, UNIQLO in Indonesia collaborated with Kitaoneus.Asia, a local organization engaged in disability advocacy, conducted mangrove planting and educational sessions on April 25, 2024 in Mangrove Ecotourism Center Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta. The objective of the activity is to encourage disabled students to learn more about mangrove ecosystems and participate directly in preserving the environment by planting 100 mangrove trees. We invited more than 100 disabled students from 5 special needs schools around Jakarta to join the mangrove planting and interactive tour by the Jakarta Provincial Park and Forestry Office. We had a great opportunity to have a quick discussion with the Indonesian Minister of Environment and Forestry, Mrs Siti Nurbaya Bakar, and get her recognition for our contribution to the national government’s target of mangrove restoration. On December 22, 2023, UNIQLO, Indonesia conducted the annual People with Disability (PWD) gathering in celebration of the International Day of Disability. A total of 15 PWD employees from stores around Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, and Surabaya and also 8 employee volunteers have participated in the series of activities under the theme “Unity in Diversity”. The activities include special performances from musicians with autism, a Basic English Class, a Decoupage Art Activity, and a personal session where PWD employees can write a letter to their Store Managers to express their work aspirations. This year’s activities are implemented based on PWD employee’s feedback in the previous gathering back in 2022 and they have high ambition and excitement to upgrade their skills including communicating with foreign customers.
