What to expect
Before you can move forward on your mixology journey, you’ll have to take a look back in time. One of the Cabinet of Curiosities’ many talented mixologists will start by teaching you the rich history of the art, as well as the tools, techniques and terminology behind it (Did you know? According to the Cocktail Society, cocktails have been around since at least the 19th century, but the term “cocktail” can be traced back to the year 1798). You’ll learn how to blend spirits and balance their flavors for a harmonious taste, and ultimately create two intricate cocktails with your instructor.
Make it your own
Equipped with your education on mixology’s fascinating past and experience making a cocktail from scratch, you’ll be ready to rule your own workstation. Using premium ingredients — from spirits and mixers to fruits and syrups — and with the continued guidance of a professional mixologist, you’ll have the opportunity to create a specialty cocktail all by yourself. You’ll also learn how to garnish your signature drink and present it, so it has the aesthetic and visual appeal that make cocktails so compelling in the first place. Maybe you opt to put your own personal spin on a classic old-fashioned or modify a margarita to your specific tastes. Maybe you even create a new drink entirely. Either way, guests at the next dinner party you host are sure to be impressed.
Know before you go
For $100, attend a Mixology Masterclass and walk away with three cocktails — including that of your own design — as well as a souvenir apron and a recipe card. The 90-minute class is a great way to mix not just drinks but also with other people, as everybody works together to learn more about the art of mixology and ultimately become masters of it themselves.
