| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to honor Leon Slovikoski on his | ||||||
| 4 | retirement as the Village of Bradley Treasurer; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Leon Slovikoski
was born on January 18, 1922 in | ||||||
| 6 | Bradley; he attended
St. Joseph Grade School and Bradley High | ||||||
| 7 | School; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, He was a member of the first basketball team from | ||||||
| 9 | his high school to make it to the sweet sixteen tournament; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the | ||||||
| 11 | 82nd Airborne Glider Regiment, Fort Bragg North Carolina from | ||||||
| 12 | April 1943 to August 1945; he married Claire Suprenant
in 1947; | ||||||
| 13 | and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, He entered college under the G.I. Bill in 1947
and | ||||||
| 15 | graduated in 1949 from Eastern Illinois University; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS,
He was hired by A.O. Smith in 1950 as an | ||||||
| 17 | accounting clerk and retired in January 1982 as Plant | ||||||
| 18 | Controller; he was elected a Trustee for the Village of Bradley | ||||||
| 19 | in 1967
and re-elected in 1971 and 1975, serving until 1979; | ||||||
| 20 | during that time, the expansion of the Village Municipal | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Building took place;
in 1982,
he was appointed Treasurer for | ||||||
| 2 | the Village and implemented the computer system for financial | ||||||
| 3 | procedures
during his tenure; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Mr. Slovikoski is retiring on March 31, 2010, | ||||||
| 5 | after many years of service to the community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 7 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 8 | congratulate Leon Slovikoski on his years of service and wish | ||||||
| 9 | him the best for the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to Leon Slovikoski as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 12 | esteem.
