Dear all,
I trust this message finds you in good spirits.
I am thrilled to announce the launch of "She Leads," a program initiated by CIS-A2K to empower female Wikimedians to step into leadership roles and shape their ideas into meaningful activities. With "She Leads," we aim to provide unwavering support to emerging female leaders within our community.
We invite all of you to join us in fostering a culture of support and encouragement for female Wikimedians in your respective communities who exhibit leadership potential. "She Leads" is not just a one-time initiative; it marks the beginning of a journey to inspire and empower women to lead.
The support under "She Leads" commenced on March 1st and will continue until May 15th. You can find more details and updates on our Meta page, which will be regularly updated. Female Wikimedians interested in planning an activity are encouraged to visit the Meta page, where they can start writing a proposal using the provided template and respond to the questions accordingly.

We are truly excited to witness the enthusiasm and creativity that will emerge through this program. Stay tuned for further updates, as there may be additional activities and enhancements introduced along the way.
Looking forward to supporting the program and the women leaders .

Nitesh
Dear Indic Wikimedians,
I'm reaching out to highlight an important document called Global Majority
Wikimedia Technology Priorities
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_Majority_Wikimedia_Technology_Priori…>.
This aims to highlight the needs of the Global Majority within the
Wikimedia movement, which includes Indic Wikimedia Projects and communities.
This document is the outcome of collaborative efforts involving nine
Wikimedia organizations and the active participation of fourteen
contributors. It was constructed through a comprehensive research process
encompassing assessment, interviews, proposals, and internalization. Wiki
Movimento Brasil led this process, in partnership with CIS-A2K.
The ten priorities laid out were around two high-priority main concepts:
the promotion of epistemic diversity, prioritizing representation and
inclusion of the Global Majority communities and knowledge in
decision-making spaces and protocols, and the decentering of tech
development, prioritizing Global Majority communities’ needs and fostering
a federated network of stakeholders to develop in the Wikimedia projects
and tools.
Your contributions, input and involvement are crucial for these priorities.
Please share your thoughts and opinions on Meta-Wiki. Feel free to endorse
the document
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_Majority_Wikimedia_Technology_Priori…>
as an individual or on behalf of an affiliate group or other organizations
if you agree with it.
Thank you for your contributions to the Wikimedia movement.
Best regards,
Pavan Santhosh,
Program Manager,
CIS-A2K.
Dear all,
I hope this email finds you well.
A2K has been organizing monthly engagement calls with Indic Communities for
the past few months. You can find more information about these calls on our
Meta page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K/Events/Indic_Community_Monthly_Enga…
As part of this initiative, A2K aims to foster collaboration and strengthen
ties with Indian Wikimedians.
This month, on April 12th, A2K will be organizing a call to provide a clear
overview of our recent initiative, Community Collaborations. During the
call, we will discuss the importance of collaboration program and provide
insights into how communities and individuals can actively participate in
this initiative.
The call is scheduled for April 12, Friday, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. You
can find more information about the call on the Meta page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K/Events/Indic_Community_Monthly_Enga…
.
I will share the call details with you as soon as possible.
We encourage you to join us for this informative session to gain a better
understanding of our Community Collaboration and how you can contribute to
Indic Wikimedia projects by collaborating with A2K under this initiative.
Looking forward to your participation.
Regards,
Nitesh
Greetings,
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Since 2023, preceding the WikiConference India 2023, we've been hosting
regular calls. Initially, these were WCI pre-conference calls, which later
evolved into post-WCI calls, and over time, these calls have aimed to unite
the South Asian community monthly for updates and discussions as the South
Asian Open Community Calls
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/South_Asia_Open_Community_Call>, are
hosted every month.
In an ongoing effort to tailor these calls to better suit the community's
needs, we've made various adjustments to the agenda, topics, moderators,
and more. With over 17 editions; it's the right time to gather feedback and
make changes for increased participation and belonging in the calls.
Hence, we will be taking the month of April for feedback/review. In which
we're launching a quick survey (5-7 minutes) to hear from you. Your
feedback, preferences, and suggestions will help shape future editions of
the call and ensure it remains a valuable forum for South Asian Communities.
Please take a moment to participate in the survey and forward the same to
as many community members as possible:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScXimIBJ-7deg8UPx34XtJPFTVrMdOBjZe…
*PS: We will not be hosting an edition of the South Asia Open Community
Call in April, and the next one will be on the 19th of May, 2024 where we
are already working on a special agenda. *
Thank you for your continued support and engagement!
Regards,
Nitesh and Nivas

,
As a Telugu Wikimedian, I'm delighted to see our user group get recognition
as an affiliate. We submitted our application to AffCom in August 2022, and
since then, the Telugu Wikimedia Community has made remarkable leaps in
defining its strategic direction. On this occasion, I'd like to share some
insights into our work in this area.
Our community, the Telugu Wikimedia Community, organized a community-wide
conference. This event, enriched by studies, discussions, and
consultations, focused on assessing the quality and status of our projects,
as well as identifying the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead.
These efforts resulted in a strategic document that now guides the Telugu
Wikimedia Community's initiatives. The user group has enthusiastically
begun to undertake activities and projects aligned with this strategic
direction.
For those interested, you can read our strategy and the journey to its
formation here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tewiki_Pandaga-2024/Strategy>.
Incidentally, this announcement comes just days before the Ugadi Festival,
"Telugu New Year," which is a significant festival in Telugu culture,
lending an even sweeter note to this news.
Best regards,
Pavan Santhosh,
Member, Telugu Wikimedians User Group.

Subject: [Wikimedia-l] Wikimania 2024: Submission deadline extended
To: <wikimedia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear all,
I am observing the inflow of programme submissions for Wikimania 2024 and I
could not be a happier programme lead than now. However, I know that there
are some session proposals that are still being developed, so we are
extending the deadline to submit your programme proposals until April 10,
2024, 12:00 UTC.
Make it the most memorable learning experience with other Wikimedians by
submitting sessions that are relevant to the Wiki-world and which bring the
Collaboration of the Open, this year’s spirit, to Katowice, Poland, and
online!

Best regards
Wojciech Pędzich, Head of Programming, Wikimania 2024
