Correct identification of this object

edit

The correct identification of some NGC objects is difficult due to errors and misunderstandings of the original observer and of the astronomers that, during time, made and re-analysed the data.

Use the information of different sources, NGC 1717 has different identifications. Following the prescription of NGC/IC project NGC 1717 can be identified as a single star, even if the identification is very uncertain, but not NGC 1719.

Source Identification Link Notes
NGC/IC project in VizieR (Q1662358) single star [1] right identification
NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (Q488563) single star [2] right identification
Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) unknown [3] wrong identification!
SIMBAD (Q654724) galaxy NGC 1719 [4] wrong identification!

Please do not use SIMBAD (Q654724) and Lyon-Meudon Extragalactic Database (Q6709611) databases to recover the data of this object!
