This is a local restaurant which provides outstanding service. The ambiance is simple but nice.
For my meal, I ordered the chicken mole which was a generous portion and came with corn tortillas. The chicken was nice and juicy and the mole was good as well -- I personally like the flavors of the mole to be a little deeper, but that's just a personal preferences.
The enchiladas were excellent as well.Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - 2125975Aug 2, 2024
walking on market and grabbed a quick bite to eat here. The staff is super helpful and the service was great.
I got a regular carnitas quesadilla for $11 that came with chips, water, and salsa for free. They brought everything out to me and cleaned up my table.

Having recently headed to the Mission District for tacos I was surprised by some of the prices. A small 2-taco order was easily $10 if not more. This made Zona Rosa a slam dunk. I walked by on Taco Tuesday and noticed that street tacos (what they call "Jefe Tacos"; normally $5 apiece) were a very reasonable $3.
Opting for a carne asada and an el pastor Jefe Taco I was easily able to assess how these compared to their counterparts recently enjoyed at the Mission's Taqueria Vallarta:
* Both el pastor and carne asada taco (meats and fillings) were equivalent in flavor. Both good and enjoyable.
* With the Taco Tuesday deal, Zona Rosa tacos are the far better deal ($6 vs $10 for 2).
* The tortillas at Taqueria Vallarta are better. Both places use two tortillas per taco.
* Now here's where Zona dosa really shines: Though you order at Zona Rosa's counter you're served at your table. The server, who also manned the register, brought chips (free of charge), salsas (in squirt bottles, but good), and iced water. I felt like I was actually serviced and that's not what I found in the Mission (or,for that matter, at very many other places these days).
Chances of a Tuesday return to Zona Rosa (which also offers other Taco Tuesday deals) are strong.Helpful 3Thanks 3Love this 5Oh no 0 - Apr 2, 2024
The service and employees go above and beyond! They were super sweet, and there were chips and pico for free! There was too much hot sauce on the tacos I got, and they remade 2 of them for me without the sauce.
I wanted to love the food equally as much, but I was a little underwhelmed by the Jefe tacos. The meat was quite dry, and I tried both the carnitas and asada. I felt like everything was a bit lacking in flavor, pico included.Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kyle D.San Francisco, CA051Aug 30, 2024
The food is great and the family that runs it is awesome! I used to frequent their old location on Haight and they don't disappoint.

Massive and delicious burritos- need I say more?
I came in here on a Saturday night and surprisingly it was fairly quiet. I ordered the El Chignon with all the fixings inside.
The meat was cooked perfectly and was large enough to split among two meals. It also came with a side of fresh tortilla chips. Shout out to the gentleman at the cash register who was super friendly and offered me different salsas for my burritos and chips.
Come swing by for the awesome food, beautiful artwork, and stellar service!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christina E.Austin, TX84269Jul 20, 2024
This place is AMAZING. Coming from two Texans, we can confirm this is THE PLACE to get enchiladas and a beer. You get to pick the sauce (green or red), the beans, and the fillings. I recommend the carne asada and pollo asado. Quick, friendly service is the cherry on top.

I remember this place when it was on Haight Street, did not know it was still around. Stumbled across it for a quick bite before a movie at the Castro theater recently. Same delicious salsa and flavors that I remembered.
The people in our party ordered burritos and tacos, and everybody liked their food. The burritos are good sized.
For a taqueria they actually have good service, it's over the counter and seat yourself, but she actually came and checked on us and brought us water.
Not much seating inside and on a cold day it's kind of freezing. But hey, it's a taqueria and most people are getting their food to go. I'll be back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 27, 2024
Went in for taco Tuesday. Ordered one taco of asada and one of Al pastor. After I sat and waited for food it was maybe only one minute and they communicated right away they ran out of asada and tried to comp me a different taco. I just asked for both with Al pastor. I would recommend for you to go early so you get exactly what you need. Great portion size are price and salsas were great and spicy.

I think I found my to-go mexican place!
I got the El Chingon burrito $15 (including tax) and it's so affordable as it's huge. It's the classic burrito but tastes like what I want a burrito to taste like! It comes with some pretty good chips (a few were stale) and green and red sauce.
Will come back again, plus they have some really good Tuesday $3 deals.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
