We offer funding opportunities, guidance, and other resources to ensure that the free knowledge is available and accessible to anyone. We promote knowledge equity aligned with the strategic direction of the Wikimedia movement.

Program officers are oriented around geographic regions or specific programs, such as Learning & Evaluation and Wikimedia movement conferences. Each regional program officer is also the central point of contact for a priority thematic area, in order to keep a strong connection with the global movement and to facilitate interactions with the communities and Wikimedia Foundation teams.

Our funding is divided into three primary areas: General Support Funds, which support the professionalization and ongoing activities of [[<tvar name="1">m:Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia_movement_affiliates</tvar>|Wikimedia Affiliates]], Conference and Events Funds, which support Movement-led gatherings and convenings, and Movement Strategy Implementation Grants, which are dedicated specifically to implementing the recommendations of the Movement Strategy.

How we work
