Requests for permissions is a page to ask for sysop/admin, bureaucrat or CheckUser access to any Wikimedia wiki where no local means exist to do so yet. A steward will only give you access if your wiki has no bureaucrats (someone who can make sysops). If your wiki has a bureaucrat, please use the requests for adminship page on your own wiki instead.

For urgent access (to combat ongoing large-scale vandalism), you may ask on the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channels instead.

Stewards: all requests presented here should be archived when fulfilled.

Boilerplate Request for Permissions

The text below is a template for requesting specific permissions on a wiki. Please copy it and complete the three required points, plus other salient information.

===== Project name =====

I request sysop access on ''project name'':

*'''Language Code:''' XX
*'''Local Request Link:''' [[XX:Project:XXXXX]]
*'''Local User Page:''' [[XX:User:XXXXX]]

Thank you. ~~~~

Notes:

  1. Be sure to complete the information as requested. Without it, a steward cannot process the request.
  2. Please add the request here after the community approval.
  3. Be aware that local request page (RfA) may not be the same with the administrators page.

Current Requests

Please place your request at the end of the appropriate section below, and state in the heading which project you are referring to. All requests for permissions are subject to approval by the local community, and any unauthorised permissions will be revoked upon complaint. Please remember to inform your community of your request. A steward will notify you when the request is processed.

CheckUser rights

To ask for a steward to answer one of your request, see Request for CheckUser information.

According to policy, there is no TEMPORARY status of checkuser. Either there are already checkuser on a project and these people must be asked to do the checkuser. Or there is nobody and a steward must do it. Giving a temporary status to anyone just simply asking it to a steward, with no agreement from the local community is against the checkuser status rules. Giving it with no request mentionned anywhere is even more problematic. Breaching these rules should imply removing the status of the steward if he can not be trusted to follow commonly accepted rules. If any one has a problem with this rule and wish that from now on, checkuser status be given to anyone without any community discussion, he must have the current rules changed, not breach them. I request sysop access on sl.wikiquote.org:

Thank you. Klemen Kocjancic 00:06, 23 January 2006 (UTC) I would like to request a bureacrat status for sl.wikiquote, as so far there are no admins or bureacrats. So far I'm admin on sl.wikipedia and bureacrat on sl.wikibooks (freshly appointed). I created local request page (local user page), but I don't think that there will be much of voting going around - not enough user (yet). Regards, --Klemen Kocjancic 23:18, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, let's wait some days to give other users the time to express their opinions. It would also be a good idea to announce your request at the local village pump (if not done yet). --Ascánder 00:07, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool with me; on your request I made a Village Pump (Pod lipo). Regards, --Klemen Kocjancic 08:14, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of access

Self-de-adminship can be requested here, and will be granted immediately. You may be asked to prove you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki first, by putting information on your talk page on your local wiki, that you're requesting de-adminship. To request the removal of sysop access from another user, please gain consensus on this on your own wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When it is finished and there is a community consensus to desysop a user, a trusted person from that wiki should just provide a link here to the discussion and a very brief explanation of what the results of that were.
  1. Bmicomp requesting self-deadminship on en wikipedia due to simply not having enough time to work on wikipedia anymore. You can confirm my request on my talk page. -- Bmicomp 23:11, 23 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Request fulfilled. --Ascánder 00:08, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DeCheckUser Czech CheckUsers

I am illegally banned on cs: since 2 September 2005 (now 136 days) and since 21 September 2005 (now 117 days) without an interruption – see log. The CheckUser Policy doesn't permit public distribution of IP address of registered users. Data Protection Act doesn't allow to collect personal data about anybody without his or her consent. The document CheckUser says that data about IP address of registered users are kept no longer than one month.

Since I did not edit with my account cs:Wikipedista:Vít Zvánovec for almost four months, Czech CheckUsers have had no legal knowledge of my IP address. They violated law by storing data about me without my consent. They violated Wikipedia Policy by checking IP address they have no legal access to.

This breach of CheckUser conduct was committed by Wikimol and Beren: cs:Wikipedie:Pod lípou#Kar. Since Mormegil cannot be the only Czech CheckUser, it is upon your consideration he should be DeCheckUser as well. The page cs:Wikipedie:Žádost o komentář/Wikipedista:Vít Zvánovec should be deleted because it contains my personal data without my consent. The other CheckUsers should not fullfil request of IP address confirmation made by Czech users because they have IP addresses illegally. -- Vít Zvánovec 18:48, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The only IP published on the page you linked is not ISP, but a normal webserver. If this is the case, I don't think we can do anything in this matter, since this IP could be taken as a link to the website. Besides, the IP wasn't posted by a CheckUser, but by a normal contributor. Datrio 19:26, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I am sorry. The published address (193. ...) is publicly and ilegally connected to my account. It is substantial breach of Data Protection Act. I have no problem with translation of IP address to a hostname or vice versa. But both the IP address and the hostname Czech CheckUsers legally don't know.

In my view you, as a CheckUser, cannot confirm publicly unknown IP address with registered account, but only two registered accounts or an anonymous edit with the registered account. You have no right to check IP address posted by a normal contributor if you don't know source of its knowledge. -- Vít Zvánovec 10:18, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, let me explain this in a way I heard from the Czech community. Sorry I won't give out links, but I don't even have them stored in my browser.
One of the users of your community did a DNS search for the domain of your email address which is publicly available on your site. He got an IP number of the site and posted it on the page you linked. Since there was a possibility that you're using a sockpuppet, the editors checked this IP as a possible IP you were using. End of story.
I can't confirm anything, but that's the story I heard from them. If this is the case, the CheckUser policy hasn't been abused, and our CheckUsers didn't violate any legal act. This would be a case between you and the contributor who posted this IP address. Datrio 21:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for explanation, but I don't find satisfactory. Because I link on my wiki page to my website and on my website I provide my e-mail, everybody has a right to spy my IP address? This is absurd.

I still insist on that is the CheckUser policy violation to check IP addresses from other sources than wiki edits (registred or anonymous). Otherwise it would be legal to sniff about my private life. -- Vít Zvánovec 09:37, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As a result of the increased trouble with trolls on the Dutch wikipedia, the current guidelines for sysops have become inadequate and ineffective. After many quarrels whether blocks for certain troublesome users were according to these old guidelines, an attempt was made to reformulate these guidelines, which was thwarted by several people trying to postpone implementation of new guidelines. The only result so far is the desysop procedure against Waerth. 72 Pro votes are now needed, and I am very concerned to see several sysops and an occasional steward signing against Waerth. Several other very respected users and sysops have left the Dutch Wikipedia at least temporarily because of discontent with the desysop procedure. I cannot live with guidelines that tie sysops so much that they can do nothing to stop those who would like to destroy the community; these guidelines in effect declare that hunting season on sysops is open permanently. I am therefore contemplating resignation as sysop on nl:, and applying again only after new appropriate guidelines have been implemented. I consider myself not to be bound to the current guidelines anymore. If that is enough for immediate removal of my modbit, please do so immediately. See my talk page on the nl: wiki. Stewardship Korean cluster

This is *not* for requests to become steward of the Wikimedia Foundation. Those are appointed by the board.

For technical reasons there are "Florida-cluster Stewards" and "Korean-Cluster stewards". Florida-cluster stewards can here request to become also Korean-cluster steward.

What you need to do;

  1. Make a user account on ja:wikipedia - You can change the language of the interface in your preferences. - If you have font problems install Code2002 http://home.att.net/~jameskass/
  2. Setup you userpage on JA. If you are Steward there you can not have a unborn userpage
  3. Put on your talk page of your account at JA your request. Something like I, ~~~~ , Steward of the Wikimedia Foundation, request to be made steward also for the Korean cluster. See [[meta:Requests_for_permissions#Stewardschip_Korean_cluster]]
  4. List here your username of JA and sign it
  5. When you are steward for the Korean Cluster update Stewards#Active_stewards
