Norma Crow (Glynis Barber) will be the one in need of an undertaker this summer, with reports claiming that Hollyoaks is set to kill off the character.

The popular character, as fans will know, was introduced two years ago as a dastardly villain who went by the moniker The Undertaker, striking fear into the heart of Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey).

Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) and Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) subsequently crossed her path and learned the hard way that you absolutely do not cross Norma, with the pair almost losing their life on various occasions at her hands.

Norma subsequently mellowed over the years, becoming a firm fixture of the village after a shock twist confirmed that she was none other than Warren Fox’s (Jamie Lomas) estranged mother.

But despite this strong connection to a legendary character, Norma is reportedly set to meet a grisly fate, meeting a tragic end at the hands of a surprise character, according to The Sun.

An insider told the publication: ‘Glynis has been a big part of the show, so it’s only right she gets a gory ending.

‘It does mean she won’t be coming back though, which will be a huge blow for her fans.’

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Hollyoaks for comment.

Glynis, who is best known for her roles in EastEnders and Dempsey and Makepeace, confirmed earlier this year that she had wrapped filming on Hollyoaks.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, she uploaded a sweet picture of herself, Jamie Lomas and Rita Simons – who plays Marie Fielding – and wrote: ‘A special day of filming with my two faves, winding up my scenes on @hollyoaksofficial.

‘What a joy working with @jamielomas21, such a generous and gifted actor and who now has a special place in my heart. And reunited with @rita_simonsofficial who is literally one of my favourite people on the planet.

‘All will be revealed in a few weeks!’

Hollyoaks is undergoing a huge change as the show drops from five weekly offerings to three, with a number of cast set to exit in the weeks and months leading up to it.

Warren Fox, played by Jamie Lomas, will be written out in a dramatic way, with his exit scenes having already been filmed. Metro confirmed last month that fan-favourite Matthew James Bailey, who plays Ethan, will also be leaving the show.

Steph Waring has wrapped filming after playing the iconic Cindy Cunningham on and off for 28 years, with Steph confirming that her character was one of those axed as part of the upcoming broadcast changes.

Scott Drinkwell star Ross Adams is also set to depart, with reports claiming that Beau Ramsey star Jon-Paul Bell will similarly leave Hollyoaks.

Hollyoaks streams weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4’s streaming platform, or catch episodes on TV at 7pm on E4.
