This article contains spoilers for the first episode of EastEnders set to air on Thursday (July 11) which has not yet been shown on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders has finally revealed the real reason Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) doesn’t want to celebrate his birthday, and it is truly heartbreaking.

Bobby is soon set to turn 21-years-old, and Anna Knight and Freddie Slater (Molly Rainford and Bobby Brazier) have been trying to workout what he wants to do to celebrate.

However, Bobby has so far brushed off every suggestion, leaving them totally confused.

In more recent scenes, Peter Beale (Thomas Law) was also keen to know what Bobby’s plans were, pointing out that it isn’t every day you turn 21.

Once again, Bobby grew defensive and insisted he didn’t want to celebrate, and when Peter questioned him, he finally revealed why.

He pointed out that when he turns 21 he will be older than sister Lucy was when she died.

Viewers will remember that Lucy Beale was murdered by Bobby back in 2014, when he hit her over the head with a music box, and he has been living with his guilt ever since.

He explained to Peter how he didn’t want to celebrate when Lucy would never get the chance, and the fact that he was the reason she was dead made it even worse.

Before Peter had chance to argue, Bobby had stormed out.

Will Bobby’s family and friends let his milestone birthday pass without a celebration, or will they force him to mark the occasion?
