This Morning star Matthew Wright has been rushed back to hospital just hours after saying he had ‘definitely improved’ following severe neck pain.

The LBC presenter, 59, was all boxed up and ready to move house earlier this week but his plans were stalled after he was rushed to hospital due to neck pain.

The 59-year-old initially returned home yesterday, saying he just needed to ‘rest up and keep taking the meds’ but ‘hopefully all will be good’. He later added that he had ‘definitely improved enough to lie down for a bit’.

However, the TV star has now been rushed back to hospital due to the ongoing pain as he updated his followers on social media.

‘Back in hospital, another ambulance, pain off the scale. Scans and stuff next,’ he wrote on X.

Fans shared their well wishes for him to ‘get better soon’ in the comments.

Just before his first visit to the hospital, he shared a picture of himself smiling alongside towers of cardboard before being struck by ‘the worst pain’, he wrote: ‘Packing all done, two days non stop but I’m ready to go!

‘Thought I’d be more emotional after 23 years here but no which means it really is time to say goodbye and go the full Worzel after so many years dithering. A new dawn for me tomorrow.’

But soon after Matthew took to social media and revealed to followers he had been taken to hospital by paramedics.

‘Turns out my bad neck is actually quite bad,’ he said. ‘Indebted to paramedics Steph and Miko for getting me to hospital and dealing with worst of pain. Doesn’t look like I’ll be moving house today.’

He continued: ‘2 shots of morphine so far, one diazepam, 1000mg paracetamol and it’s not even 7am #BreakfastOfChampions.’

Matthew first complained about his neck pain at the weekend, as he took to X on Sunday and said: ‘Feel a middle aged mess today – neck hurts, nose blocked, ragged voice – but we smile on!!’

On Saturday he apologised for his voice while broadcasting, and added: ‘Rest of me feels fine. It’s not covid either…’

Later that day he took to social media again to say he was ‘still ill’ but ‘merry’ thanks to some birthday whisky.

He added: ‘Neck hurts from falling asleep like crumpled tissue b4 ENG/SWI…still moving house and trying not to panic….’

This comes after Matthew, who appears on the This Morning sofa to discuss current affairs, recently gave his thoughts on the Netflix hit Baby Reindeer – all about comedian Richard Gadd’s supposed real-life stalker, Martha.

In a Black Mirror-esque turn, internet sleuths seemingly uncovered the ‘real Martha’ in Scottish woman Fiona Harvey, who even ended up giving her side of the storyin an interview with Piers Morgan.

Chatting about the TV series sensation – born from an Edinburgh Fringe show – and opening up about his own experience with stalking, Matthew said: ‘I have such mixed feelings about this show. But, that’s a positive.

‘I’m not saying that the positives justify the negatives but it is a positive and it shows patterns of behaviour from both men towards women and women towards men.’

He went on: ‘When I reflected on my stalking situation, I never wanted to go visit my stalker’s house, I didn’t want to buy my stalker a drink, I didn’t want to see this woman or have anything to do with her at all. And that’s where the lines are blurred in Baby Reindeer.’

In 2020, the woman stalking Matthew and sending his family messages was handed a restraining order.

Michelle Ranicar was said to have repeatedly visited Matthew’s home in London, bearing gifts and messages declaring her love for him, after she was barred from being a guest in the audience of his chat show due to security concerns about her behaviour towards the presenter.

Her seven-month stalking campaign was brought to an end in May 2019, when she was arrested after turning up at the Wrights’ home and telling his wife, new mother Amelia Wright: ‘Amelia, I want to see the baby.’

Matthew and Amelia Wright married in 2010 after meeting three years prior at a mutual friend’s garden party.

They welcomed a daughter Cassidy in 2019 following eight years of ‘challenging’ IVF treatment.
