The Bear fans have been left doing a double take after discovering a star of the show has a famous dad.

The comedy-drama series stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to manage the chaotic kitchen at his deceased brother’s sandwich shop.

His sister Natalie ‘Sugar’ Berzatto is played by Abby Elliott, who was previously a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2008 until 2012.

The 37-year-old has also appeared in shows including 2 Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother and Search Party, however it turns out her dad also starred in a hugely popular comedy series – Schitt’s Creek.

Abby’s dad is 64-year-old actor and comedian Chris Elliott, who played Roland Schitt in all six seasons of the Netflix series.

Since making the discovery, many fans of both shows have been left shocked by the connection.

‘Today years old when I found out Abby Elliott’s dad was Roland on Schitts Creek,’ user Ren posted on X this week.

‘Wwwwhhhhhaaaaattttt! I didn’t put this together AT ALL. Shocked! Thanks for sharing!’ another viewer posted on Reddit.

‘I didn’t see their resemblance at first but in second season I did,’ another said.

Aside from Schitt’s Creek, Chris also appeared in comedic sketches on Late Night with David Letterman from 1982 until 1988 and also in Everybody Loves Raymond and How I Met your Mother.

He was also in hit films including Groundhog Day, There’s Something About Mary and Scary Movie 2.

Abby previously said she’d love to see her dad make a cameo on The Bear.

‘I would love for my dad to be in it in some capacity. That would be really, really fun,’ she told People.

‘I don’t know who he would play. Maybe a disgruntled customer. Or someone in the family.’

Her mum is Paula Niedert, who previously worked as a talent coordinator on Late Night with David Letterman when they met, while her grandfather, Bob Elliot, was also a well-known radio comedian.

The Bear is streaming on Disney Plus.
