Warning: spoilers ahead for Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3.
Star Wars series have been known to deliver unexpected cameos over the years, from Mark Hamill returning as Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian to movie star Danny Trejo showing up in The Book of Boba Fett.
However, the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 astonished fans when the credits revealed Scrubs star Zach Braff had made an appearance… despite the actor not being recognised on screen.
The credits for the show are done in order of appearance, with Zach’s name coming after Rya Kihlstedt, who plays an Inquisitor called The Fourth Sister, and before Game of Thrones star Indira Varma, who plays a defected Imperial officer.
Therefore, after some confusion over Zach’s role, fans have shared the theory that he might have played Freck, a mole-like individual who gave Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Princess Leia Organa (Vivien Lyra Blair) a lift after they arrived on a mining planet.
Several people were convinced the character was being played by Knocked Up star Seth Rogen, whose voice sounds eerily familiar to Freck’s.
Nonetheless, Seth’s name didn’t pop up in the credits… while Zach’s did instead.
‘No spoilers… I just want to know if @zachbraff was the voice of that Mole Man looking character or not?!?’ one person tweeted.
‘If that was Zach Braff, he did a A+ impersonation of Seth Rogen,’ another quipped.
Someone else pointed out that Zach was in Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow’s 2010 film The High Cost of Living, opposite Isabelle Blais.
Referencing Zach’s Scrubs co-star and close friend Donald Faison, they added: ‘Also, I’m sure Donald Faison is going to be jealous, being the uber Star Wars fan that he is.’
Zach has tweeted about Star Wars on several occasions in the past, even receiving a response from the official Star Wars account in 2013.
It began when Donald tweeted: ‘May the 4th be with you…’ to mark Star Wars Day, to which Zach replied: ‘Happy special day to my favorite Blerd. Lando loves you.’
The Star Wars account then replied: ‘@zachbraff @donald_faison #MayThe4thBeWithYou to the best duo since Han and Chewie.’
If Zach is now in the Star Wars universe… could Donald be next? Our fingers are crossed!
