Descendants – Cast

A Disney Channel fantasy-musical about the offspring of well-known heroes and villains from the Disney empire, 2015's Descendants was directed by musical-film veteran Kenny Ortega (Xanadu, Dirty Dancing, High School Musical), whose involvement led to the film being turned into a musical. The members of the cast who also sang in the TV movie include Disney Channel sitcom stars Dove Cameron from Liv and Maddie (as the daughter of Maleficent) and Cameron Boyce from Jessie (as the son of Cruella de Vil), as well as Booboo Stewart (as the son of Jafar), Sofia Carson (as the daughter of the Evil Queen from Snow White), Mitchell Hope (as the son of Belle and the Beast), Sarah Jeffery (as the daughter of Aurora and Prince Phillip), and Tony- and Emmy-winner Kristin Chenoweth as Maleficent. The Descendants [Original TV Movie Soundtrack], which was released the same day the movie premiered in July 2015, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It spawned two Hot 100 singles in "Rotten to the Core," performed by Cameron, Boyce, Stewart, and Carson, and "If Only," a solo ballad sung by Dove Cameron. ~ Marcy Donelson
