R&B mainstay Tink has been developing her Winter’s Diary series since her career began way back in 2012. The fifth iteration of the project, Winter’s Diary 5, arrived 12 years after the adventure began, and on the album, Tink showcases all the ways she has matured as a songwriter, collaborator and person. On album standout “Songs About U”, Tink links up with fellow R&B superstar Summer Walker for a heartbroken jam buoyed by an emotive vocal performance and stirring acoustic guitar chords. The duo trade stories of love and love lost, with Tink crooning: “You know how I get with that liquor in my system/All I got is memories, I hate that you went missing/You know when I'm faded, I start texting pages/I can't stay away.” Her pain is almost palpable, and her ability to make her personal relationships feel universal is why Winter’s Diary 1-5 have become celebrated in R&B’s rich canon.
